After Katrinaand Rita, Mr. Mercat and I drove down to SW Louisiana pulling an old camping trailer full of bottled water and supplies. We left it all there after meeting up, as arranged, with some of these guys. They took us on the full tour past the barricades. We saw drowned alligators and cows. I’ll never forget the smell.
Hey! that's one of President Trump's base you are referring to...good people! The face of the America we all love and care about!
Contrast Republican Texas and Democrat Louisiana.
Says it all.
Larry almost had it right.
Everybody makes fun of a redneck until their car breaks down...or the crick rises.
Why is that weird? Southern redneck and coonass culture is like that.
I love my fellow Americans. Anything happens anywhere and there they are with their big hearts and willing hands.
The Cajun Navy is primarily made up by a certain demographic: Southern white males. The media tell us that these are the most hateful, racist, bigoted people in the world.
Curiously, if you see any footage of the Cajun Navy in action, you will notice a very interesting thing. The people that, more often than not, they end up saving, are usually from those demographics they are supposed to hate so badly.
They go out there on their own initiative and risk their own health and well-being to help people, regardless of their skin color, ethnicity, religion, gender or whatever.
Every hurricane prone, excessive flooding, state guard should have its own fleet of these in it’s Cain Navy and state guard.
Sean Penn show up yet?
I see no helpin’ from the likes of Mutt Romney, McCain, Flake, Rubio, Corker or Cruz and the #nevertrumpers to lift a finger in a national crisis.
Perhaps Mutt could put a few dogs on top his car and donate a few trucks of supplies.
We lost our home and all of our possessions in Katrina. When we needed help, it was not FEMA or MEMA or even the Red Cross that arrived to help. It was Southern Baptist churches from NC, SC and TN. It was the Marine Corps Reserve, volunteers from Ohio and Indiana.
Good people put their lives on hold, left their families and at their own expense spent many days among the debris and stench to provide aid and comfort to those in need.
That is OUR AMERICA and we will always be so grateful to them.
PS: Some of this same Cajun group tried to help save lives in NOLA but were stopped and threatened with arrest because FEMA had not approved them. Hope that they are received better in Houston.
Yeah....must be something in the water to make those “racist Nazis” want to truly help people
