HOUSTON The City of Houston is asking the state for $43 million to help with flood relief projects along Brays Bayou.
The announcement comes after the city experienced flooding last week causing bayous to rise out of their banks.
Some residents say their homes have taken on water several times in the last two years.
We are here to announce that relief is certainly on the way, said Mayor Sylvester Turner. My hope is that, after this is completed, you will no longer have to rush to get furniture and carpet off the floors when heavy rain is forecast. Once the work is finished here, we will move to other areas of Houston that have suffered.

What happened to the money? Let me guess, Mayor Sylvester Turner is a Democrat? All Democrats are crooks, and keep taking money from suckered voters. And steal the money. Texas, clean your house.

Now, why in the hell should the rest of the country pay for the stupidity of people continuing to live in a flood plain? If you insist on living there put your effing houses up on stilts and have a rowboat handy. The rest of us have enough trouble paying our own way with out having to pay yours too.

I’ve been wondering how there are all these homes in areas that obviously are in 100-year flood zones.
I thought there were no loans available for them.
Apparently there is.

This Democratic mayor absolutely refused advice to order an evacuation on the city. Would be a funny cartoon portraying him climbing a Confederate monument to escape the rising waters.

Most of it probably hasn’t been spent. Infrastructure projects take time, especially if land acquisition and temporary construction easements are involved, along with your normal engineering and bid time.

Btw, Twitter (not the company) was responsible for those residents getting saved. Someone in FL posted on Twitter...and they were rescued.

Only if someone not related to Houston City government is in charge of the money and the project. Affirmative Action hires are simply not equipped for the job.
