The year I spent in Joe Arpaio’s tent jail was hell. He should never walk free.

I spent a week there one night back in 1994.
Tent City was an option. Requirements were jail haircut and you got to watch the weather channel in AC comfort 20min at a time.
I chose D-400, no haircut, no weather channel.

they dont want you to be comfortable.Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. There are lots of folks who can't afford to be "comfortable" and have to settle for survival. Why should a criminal be comfortable but a marginally capable worker not be?
Sheriff Joe's goal was to make you never want to return to his lockup. It seems to have worked!

The really important issue here, which the WaPo completely ignores, is why didn’t President Obama pardon him? <LOL

I remember unairconditioned barracks in south Texas during the summer of 1963...vividly! And I wasn’t even a criminal.

This guy is lying through his teeth. He didnt spend a year in jail for a DWI conviction. The Courts usually give 1day with 1year suspended for the first conviction.
Ive seen people with a number of convictions and not one spent more than a month in jail. He had to had another charge to pull a full year.

If I were king he wouldn’t want to be in my jails for scum.

He needs to put his big boy pants on and his boots and 45lbs on his back and fight in Afganistan. No vending machines there.

There is a reason why the crime rate is low in countries like Japan, well other than the racial and cultural homogeneous population.

I used to think drunk driving was a minor crime, too.
But that’s a long time ago when I was young and still drank (never drunk drove, though).
I figure most people who think drunk driving is a minor crime drink.

I remember being a FAC in Gulf War I.
We arrived early to the war and for the first 30-days we were up north on the Kuwaiti/Saudi border. We had no logistics support so we only had water that we brought (or bought from the local Haji store).
Lived in a tent with NO AC, BTW, for 220 days.
So, bubba criminal, kiss my. . .

I’m missing his point. There were never any charges against Arpaio for the tent city. Convicted criminals now expect a life of luxury?
Freezing temperatures in Maricopa County? BS!

IIRC re: the Steinles- they did not want to make a “thing” about their kids death at first since it would make San Fran look bad.
OReilly got the story and it took off, then they were doing interviews ect.

During the sweltering summer, the temperature could reach 115 or 120 degrees. I was in the tents when we hit 120. It was impossible to stay cool in the oppressive heat...
But the winter was even worse. During the winter, there were no heaters. Most jackets and heavily insulated pants werent allowed; they dont want you to be comfortable.
Golly, sounds a lot like my time in the Army, except the only crime I committed was being dumb enough to enlist.
To: Bonemaker
There was always swamp cooling in Tent City. I grew up in the Phoenix area in a swamp-cooled home and up through 8th grade I attended swamp-cooled schools. There are a few humid days during the year where swamp cooling doesn’t help that much in Phoenix. But most of the time it works very well.
This guy is DUI Poosai.
