Don’t be a criminal, life will be easier for you.
The part that EVERYBODY FAILS TO TELL is that Tent City was VOLUNTARY for those criminals that had work furlough or wanted to be on a work camp. This POS had his Choice to stay his entire sentence in a 5x6 concrete cell OR Tent City.
It’s ironic - hypocritically so - that collectivist organs like the post have no regard whatsoever for the individual in their march to omnipresent government, but when faced with an event or program they oppose, have no qualms about rolling out a single individual to provide a sob story meant to defeat whatever it is they oppose.
[[There are no newspapers allowed; Arpaio hated newspapers. The only food allowed for those of us in the work furlough program was the food in the vending machines, which was grossly overpriced. During the sweltering summer, the temperature could reach 115 or 120 degrees. I was in the tents when we hit 120. It was impossible to stay cool in the oppressive heat. ]]
Guess ya shouldn’t have committed any crimes then huh? Cry us a river-
The whining complaints of this sniveling snowflake make me chuckle. Especially when he complains about hot water for the showers in the winter. Sounds like a walk in the park to me, as I can remember plenty of occasions taking an ice old shower in the middle of winter and sweltering in the desert heat.

Chelsea Clinton really stepped in it on Saturday when she tweeted a Washington Post essay from someone
who spent a year in Joe Arpaios infamous Maricopa County jail.
Only problem was, Clinton tweeted the story headline without quotes, making it read as if she was saying that
she spent a year in Arpaios jail.
The year I spent in Joe Arpaios tent jail was hell. He should never walk free, the tweet said with a link to
the Post essay.
The essay details the horrors that Francisco Chairez faced while he was in Arpaios jail for a DUI conviction.
Though Clinton was just tweeting the essays link and was missing quotation marks around its headline,
the reaction to the tweet was priceless:
Try going to a Turkish prison, bud.
Troops only get food and water they buy from vending machines?
I am willing to wager he never committed another crime in Arpaio’s jurisdiction. Nuff said
One of my parolee’s spent 6 months there. He said it was pretty nice, compared to GA County jails.
So? Not everyone is on top of FR 24/7. Good discussion here.
Interesting point.
The only food allowed for those of us in the work furlough program was the food in the vending machines,
... says the repeat drunk driver. I like Heinlein’s Rule: Public flogging of drunk drivers.
Gee, I wonder what kind of hell the family and friends of Kathryn Steinle went through during that year following her being killed by the illegal immigrant in San Francisco? Maybe she would still be alive today if Arpaio or someone a lot like him was doing their job in that city, much to the outrage of the left.
Save lives like Steinle’s, but be branded a racist by the WaPo people, seems like a badge of honour to me.
Awwww, poor Francisco. Hey, moron-—you were a PRISONER for doing a CRIME. What did you expect? Club Med? You were treated the way prisoners should be treated. Be happy you weren’t incarcerated in Iran or North Korea.
Wouldn’t it be an even better discussion if these comments were posted on the original thread? There’s a reason why the moderators usually close these duplicate threads. They’re a waste of FR’s space and resources.
I'm sure they do [have real fact checkers], but the editors aren't going to let them do their job on a story that fits their narrative, especially with little downside to lies-by-omission.
The rest of the story:
Don Burns:
I researched this author’s claims and he was sentenced to one year in the Maricopa County Jail for aggravated assault, a class 3 felony, not a DUI. In Arizona, it’s not possible to be sentenced to one year in the county jail for your first (and possibly even your second DUI). The author was not correct about why he was in jail (he was misleading at best, and definitely minimized whatever he did — I’m guessing he caused on accident on May 8, 2013, where victim Daniel Schnoor was injured).
I’ve been in the horseshoe before (2005, for a criminal speeding charge) so that part I can attest to as being accurate. But I’m sad WaPo can’t be bothered to investigate these basic facts. Took me 10 minutes to figure out the truth on the criminal charges. To wit:
