The U.S. Navy announced an operational pause and has begun a broad investigation after the destroyer USS John S. McCain collided with a merchant vessel, leaving 10 sailors still missing, the second such incident in as many months.
The response by the U.S. military signals the Navy believes it needs to examine whether there may be institutional problems behind the deadly collisions.
Navy Adm. John Richardson, the chief of naval operations, made the announcement about the operational pause during a nearly four-minute video message posted on Facebook Monday morning. Adm. Richardson said he also ordered a broader investigation.
I directed an operational pause be taken in all of our fleets around the world, Adm. Richardson said. I want our fleet commanders to get together with their leaders and their commands to ensure that we are taking all appropriate immediate actions to ensure safe and effective operations around the world.
Such a pause applies to operations and patrols of the Navys six fleets. Specifics of the pause are at the discretion of fleet commanders, officials said.
Adm. Richardson also said there would be a comprehensive investigation would look at operational tempo, personnel, maintenance, equipment and training, suggesting a confluence of factors was behind the collisions.

About time.
I think it is a good idea. There has been speculation of a hack of some of the Navy’s systems. Perhaps radar and/or collision avoidance systems??? Pure speculation at this point but it would be good just to verify.
Looks like the United States Armed Services need a swamp cleaning..They are just as political as the DC swamp..

Why do I feel that these collisions are some sort of asymmetric warfare against the US Navy being carried out by China?
And the Deep State wants to keep at it. What was the song from the Sound of Music — "I am sixteen going on seventeen … "
Well your search did not bring it up..
The Kneyanesian Usurper drove all the real warrior types out of the military.
We are left with an officer core who embrace transgenderism and global warming.
I think back to the QM2 cruise I took about eight years ago. There was a real interesting talk by some second in command, who explained how their whole lives were about the sea, their family tradition and life was this pursuit. They talked about backups and deep-seated knowledge they were brought up with, and a strong respect for the necessity of human involvement. Interestingly, another group that was crucial when there were people to man tenders to bring us ashore safely at ports were the Phillipino crew. Their lifelong attachment to the sea made them the "go-to" crew members when they had to fix a situation.
What's my point? Is the Navy recruiting and training people with this lifelong connection to and respect for the sea? Or are they so involved in PC nonsense that nobody respects the constant danger they face anymore?
The causes and solutions won’t be delivered if PC is a factor in the investigation.
People have EYES and there is a bridge where people can see out..it is not a sub..
People in charge are not doing there job..
A very significant development, the Navy is concerned across the board, not just with the McCain.
Suspect something’s up with a radar system that’s supposed to warn ships of impending collisions? Two incidents is so short of a time is suspicious.
Nope, we’ve done this to ourselves, with radical affirmative action and the totally dropping of standards in the name of PC radical diversity uber alles.
I have that gut feeling there’s a lot more to this.
1776....didn’t really end until 1814 and the Treaty of Ghent.
Think they’d let us know if the two commanders in both collisions were gay?
Well, the pause doesn’t extend to Pax River. Lots of flight activity on this beautiful day, eclipse and all.
Must be just operational fleet units.
