Charlottesville Mayor Mike Signer (D) addressed the August 12 car attack that killed Heather Heyer, suggesting it highlights the need to limit concealed carry.
He said he supports the Second Amendment, and is even "friends with many gun owners," but he thinks more restrictions are necessary following the rally in which a car attack took an innocent life.
According to the Atlantic, Signer said, "While I am…a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, that right, like all Constitutional rights, comes with limits." He then said, "Just as machine guns cannot be owned by civilians in this country ... it should not be acceptable to open-carry or concealed-carry firearms at an event of the sort we saw last weekend."

Can anyone tell me where Heyer was when struck by vehicle? Was she hit when he went forward or was she one of the ones who jumped on the back?
BTW, I believe some ‘on the right’ (whatever group it was) were open carrying at the rally & I don’t believe there was a single “gun incident”. Since the jackass Mayor told the police to stand down and proper provisions were not made, such as keeping traffic out of the protest area with barricades, etc., he ended up with a vehicular incident/death/injury that was totally preventable.
He’s trying to deflect blame .... guns are always a reliable target for the Left to blame. The sorry jackass didn’t have the balls to come out and speak to the press in person either because he knew he’s face a hailstorm of questions on the standdown, etc. - had to issue a “statement”.
