In todays Trump-administration Friday news dump, the New York Times reports that Trumps infamous senior strategist Steve Bannon is out at the White House. A source close to the matter told the Times Bannon had actually submitted his resignation notice on August 7 and the announcement had been pushed back following the violence in Charlottesville. The Wall Street Journal attributes Bannons resignation to his disagreements with Trumps chief of staff, John Kelly. Politico says Bannons tactics and behavior ultimately did him in. And Reddit and 4chan, well, theyre bummed no matter what lost Bannon the job.
Over on 4chan, users are discussing whether or not theyll continue to support Trump now that Bannon is gone. While theres some support for a Bannon-free Trump administration, the bulk of comments mourn the senior strategist in some, uh, colorful language. Heres a sampling of comments from the thread. (You can read it in full here. Weve lightly edited as in, took words out of all-caps internet shouting voice and tweaked some typos to make them easier to read.)
Now Trumps advisors consist of his family and the generals. Very frightening.
*** this ******* Drumpf ******. Bannon was /ourguy/. Every time Trump messed something up, I told myself well, at least Bannon is still on board.
Bannon was the main one I liked.
No Bannon means Trump is solely advised by kikes and his neocon generals now.
His [Trumps] whole cabinet is neocons, neoliberals and Jews now.
Bannon being there was a promise. Yeah, stuff wasnt happening or happening slowly but his presence said eventually it will happen. Trump needs to actually accomplish things now with him gone. I want to actually see the wall and see tax reform and trade reform.
Bannon was the last Christian in the White House, so no. Not going dem or anything just no longer supporting GOP.
Ive un-ironically given up hope for this administration now that Bannons out. Still better than the dems, but not good by any means. Its just your average kosher neocon republican administration now.
Theres a similar conversation happening over on Reddit, too. Though its slightly thank you, moderators more tame.
Meanwhile, Twitter reaction has been everybody making the same joke about Trump taking down a pro-Confederacy statue at the White House. The statue, of course, being Bannon.

Apparently, you are against Trump, because he is against Roy Moore.Twisted logic?
Even if he did favor Strange over Moore he shows more class than you ever could.
I’m not a fan of parsing
And that’s not just face-saving spin? Nancy Pelosi calls Bannon a white supremacist and in less than a week he lost his job. This is just more of the kowtowing to and appeasement of the leftist mob we see over and over again from our “side.” “There’s too much heat from the left so we’ll give them a scalp and hope it shuts them up for a while.”
Translation: They got publically exposed for anti-Jew statements and claimed they were “faking it.” Or were they acting out a play? LOL
4chan’s /pol/ always been racist. Often right, but always racist. There’s a reason I read the highlights of their posts instead of the posts themselves.
Hee hee...love it when anti left peeps/sites are validated by anti left peeps.
> I didn’t realize 4chan was frequented by hatemongers. Their ilk are precisely the kind of people who don’t belong in this movement.
4chan’s not conservative. Did someone tell you they were?
>They deserve repudiationwhether they care what people think or not...
I’ll repudiate 4chan pol just as soon as the left repudiates the racist, hateful, and murderous alt-left.
I’m not going to play that leftist game when the rules only apply to my side.
With Bannon, it’s important to read what he actually said (assuming he was quoted accurately of course), and read it in context....what he said was very clear to me, and it wasn’t an admission that Trump’s finished or his presidency is “over”...did you see the Joshua Green tweets about his phone call with Bannon?
Just got off the phone w/ Bannon: “If theres any confusion out there, let me clear it up: Im leaving the White House and going to war”

“...for Trump against his opponents — on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in corporate America.

argh...cancel that reply about Bannon...I meant to reply to another comment response in a totally different thread... I’m showing my age...and my degree of tiredness. :-(
We're supposed to be better than the Left—not the same.
I don't take my cues about whether to repudiate hate based on the Left's behavior, and I don't feel the need to act as an apologist for 4chan hatred just because the Left violates my tender sense of "fair play"...
They don't call it "weaponized autism" for nothing.
NO offense, but how old are you? The Millenials have been devastated by the Obama economy, by feminism, the influx of immigrants, both legal and illegal, and they are angry at continually having been lied to.
1) So-called Trump supporters (doubting now if they are) act like Trump is an empty vessel who must be directed by Banno or McMaster. How silly.
2) Ive known Steve for about 15 years. Not terrifically well, but well. He is an adrenaline junky. I was very surprised that he stayed after the campaign, but I could see how setting up a new government was exciting. However, I could tell a month ago that the plodding drudgery of governing was not sitting well with him. He likes blitzkrieg. We are now in trench warfare.
3) His decision to leave was his alone. He was not pushed out. I was in the EEOB on Aug. 4, three days before he wrote his resignation, and he wasnt talking resignation then, but he was quite frustrated with the size and mammoth structure of government. It was obvious he (and perhaps Trump) thought they could turn this around faster.
4) Bannon is NOT well suited for trench warfare, and is much better off outside, as is the country. Like it or not, some of the people Trump has in now are very good plodders. Sometimes we need that.

thank you for such a reasonable and calming post.
A lot of them are a bunch of bi-polar libertarians.
Interesting. Yeah, I can see that.
“Plod in right direction.” — lol, RIGHT!
I have this sneaking suspicion that the self proclaimed new media king wanted Trump to make him head of communications.
Don’t usually Twitter, thanks. Of course not how it is being presented by the ENEMEDIA.
Sounds more like tripe - Bannon laid the blame for lack of progress squarely at the feet of the GOPe and will continue to fight (”Go to war” is how he termed it), to expose them in a manner that would have been criticized if he did it from the WH. He de-fangs those who would try to stop him by blaming Trump for his “crude” ways.
I think that Bannon will totally make this a “be careful what you wish for” moment for Pelosi! That’s the way Trump works,
...so that means they should be racist and full of hate?
Anger is fine. Hatred of other races and ethnicities, like Jews and Blacks ? Not so much...
