Bannon: 'The Trump Presidency That We Fought For, and Won, Is Over.'
Weekly Standard ^

Posted on 08/18/2017 3:50:04 PM PDT by springwater13

“The Trump presidency that we fought for, and won, is over,” Bannon said Friday, shortly after confirming his departure. “We still have a huge movement, and we will make something of this Trump presidency. But that presidency is over. It’ll be something else. And there’ll be all kinds of fights, and there’ll be good days and bad days, but that presidency is over.”

Bannon says that he once confidently believed in the prospect of success for that version of the Trump presidency he now says is over. Asked what the turning point was, he says, “It’s the Republican establishment. The Republican establishment has no interest in Trump’s success on this. They’re not populists, they’re not nationalists, they had no interest in his program. Zero. It was a half-hearted attempt at Obamacare reform, it was no interest really on the infrastructure, they’ll do a very standard Republican version of taxes.

“What Trump ran on – border wall, where is the funding for the border wall, one of his central tenets, where have they been? Have they rallied around the Perdue-Cotton immigration bill [legislation proposed by Republican Senators David Perdue and Tom Cotton that would revamp the system of legal immigration, favoring immigrants with education, skills and English proficiency. On what element of Trump’s program, besides tax cuts – which is going to be the standard marginal tax cut – where have they rallied to Trump’s cause? They haven’t.”

Wow. This is seriously narcissistic AND back-stabbing at the same time. Obvious now why the guy needed to go.

No tax reform.

No repeal & replace.

No nothing.

McConnell and Ryan are leading the “conservative movement.”

The joke, once again, is on us.

I find it hard to believe that Trump would approve an interview in which Bannon was going to directly contradict a pillar of the president’s Korea policy. I just find that hard to believe. Maybe I’m wrong.

I love Trump, but I think he may be speaking the truth. Seriously, I think Ivanka and her husband has Trump’s ear more than anyone.

And guess who is best friends with Ivanka? Chelsea! And I also heard Huma is very close to Ivanka as well...

Sick if true...

Oh, get a grip.

If there’s one constant about Donald Trump it’s that he says what he thinks and does what he thinks is right. People can “whisper in his ear” all day long and it isn’t going to mean a thing if he doesn’t happen to agree with it.

The Amnesty Senators MUST GO!

Flake, Hatch, Heller and Corker in 2018

Graham and Alexander in 2020

Murkowsky, Hoeven and Rubio in 2022

Graham has clearly said that he sides with illegal aliens and will keep working for them if he is not removed from office.
We MUST remove them before they succeed in passing amnesty.

I still have hope with Trump’s Presidency, but I won’t support Republicans after they helped fuel the Russian hoax and not listen to us on the wall etc after the Election. I don’t know if the conservative base will vote for Republicans or not. Republicans think Trump voters will support them, because he won’t get anything passed with Democrats. Hopefully in 2018, good candidates will win. Trump will start attacking the leadership more.

I think Bannon was expecting a bit too much out of 52 Senators, considering the RINOs there. As far as the House...I agree with Bannon - they could have, should have, done much, much, more - but they instead keep Paul Ryan running the place.

We’ll see how things progress. If Trump can put a few more Gorsuch’s on the Supreme Court, he’s basically bought our kids the next 20 years of living in a still-great country. As others have noted, if Trump continues to kick butt regarding the courts, all else is just icing on the cake.

I don't gotta believe the Weekly Standard. But everything here is true::

Show me the falsehood in those statements.

I’m ready willing and able to believe that (Bannon quitting 10 days ago) but why would Bannon give an interview in which he contradicted an important part of Trumps Korea policy? That seems like being a vandal, though I’ll confess to frequently not understanding these things in the moment.

Trump is over?

I don’t think so. He has just begun to fight.

No, he’s saying what we voted for to happen from WITHIN the WH is over. The fight for what we voted for will now be conducted EXTERNALLY.

Thank you for so eloquently stating what was on my mind! You have already been proven right as I just read a quote from Bannon stating he is “going to war for Trump”.

Weekly Standard is always trying to depress support for Trump.

Because it's a Never Trump rag. Bannon is a disgruntled ex-employee and decided to hit back at the man who fired him. The Weekly Standard was simply happy to go along for the ride.
