Virginia Secretary of Public Safety and Homeland Security Brian Moran told Richmond talk radio host Jeff Katz on Monday that Governor Terry McAuliffe “made the decision . . . to shut things down” at Emancipation Park in Charlottesville...August 12.
Appearing on Katz’s 1140 AM WRVA radio program, Moran explained the rapidly moving sequence of events that began at 11:22 a.m. when he phoned Governor McAuliffe from the City of Charlottesville Command Center located on the sixth floor of the Wells Fargo building in downtown Charlottesville, just a few blocks from Emancipation Park.
“In light of the escalating violence we had to shut things down,” Moran told Katz (beginning at the 4:15 mark in the audio recording of the interview).
“At about 11:22 I called the governor and he immediately made the decision yes, go ahead, and of course, in consultation with the Virginia State Police, Colonel Flaherty, we put in the appropriate place to clear the park and clear the streets,” Moran said.
Katz was able to confirm Moran’s statement the following day, Tuesday, when he interviewed Virginia State Police Superintendent Stephen Flaherty, who said that both he and Charlottesville City Manager Maurice Jones were with Secretary Moran at the Wells Fargo building command center that morning.
“The [Charlottesville] City Manager was in the command post with us [on the 6th Floor of the Wells Fargo building downtown Charlottesville],” Flaherty told Katz. But seconds later in that interview, Flaherty let slip what critics of the police response to the Emancipation Park rally and related brawls between two opposing groups have been saying since the event occured.
“We felt early on we would probably have to declare an unlawful assembly,” Flaherty said.
An eyewitness account described the events that morning that Secretary Moran told Katz comprised “the escalating violence.”

The fight now includes Monument Avenue in Richmond so McAuliffe is trying to avoid a repeat of Charlottesville. We’ll see.

Someone ought to be looking into generating a civil lawsuit against McAwful & the Charlottesville mayor for deliberately conspiring to endanger public safety.

TRANSLATION: we need to know what all evidence is out there so we can develop our quash plans.
To put this in geographical perspective. The Unite the Right had a permit for Emancipation park. The People’s Action for Racial Justice had permits for McGuffey (2 blocks west) and Justice (2 blocks east) parks on Jefferson St which runs along the north of Emancipation park.
The counterprotestor was killed at 4th and Water St which is 4 blocks southeast of Emancipation park and 3 blocks south of Justice park.

One of the State Police who died in the helicopter crash just recently (July) left the governors personal security detail.
It is a good bet that the helicopter was being used as an intelligence platform for the governor.
It is reasonable to conclude that McAuliffe orchestrated, monitored, and controlled the operation in Charlottesville.
That 3 people died from the incompetence of such a governor with the political ambition, but without good sense and decency should be no surprise.
The Virginia governorship has been the path of carpetbaggers with presidential ambition for a while since it is term limited and is off-year - perfect training for someone with no governmental executive experience. Our present Senator “horse teeth” Warner was another one just like McAuliffe.
Seems like the lies are catching up with ol’ Terry though.
He might not be able to cover this up enough to be a viable presidential candidate in 2020.
Maybe someone else can do better than I can with that.

McAuliffe committed a crime, and should be arrested, tried and jailed, or perhaps better, just cap him, its all likely to come to that anyway.

Sounds like DOJ and FBI have grounds to investigate Gov. Terry McAuliffe for Criminal Behavior and instigating riot by asking the police to stand dodwn.
In many states the governor isn’t a super-mayor. The city should have flipped him the finger.

lets see the cops retreat and pull back. Let the two sides go at then the Gov says shut it down. That is kink of like shutting the barn door after the cows are out. Some people even stated they were trying to get away from the area but the cops had them all herded in to the same small area. this was no accident the Gov,Mayor had this planned and once that had enough fighting to attack conservatives they sent the cops back in to try and stop it. Even the ACLU was critical of the cops along with the media.
I think the FBI is going to look at both sides.
Quite frankly, I am uncomfortable with the way the Unite the Right group was assembled, and most particularly, the role and background of Jason Kessler.
I would also like to know who organized the tiki torch march on UVA Grounds on the evening before the rally. There are remarkable similarities to that march and to some of the demonstrations in the Ukraine on the Maidan,
There have been many reports that members of the US State Dept. under Obama played an important role in instigating the protests on the Maidan.
