Former Speaker of the House and longtime Trump supporter Newt Gingrich is seriously worried about the future of Donald Trumps presidency.
Gingrich, who has consistently been one of Trumps most optimistic supporters, said Friday morning that Trump is more isolated than he realizes and needs to make serious changes if hes going to have a stable presidency.
I think hes in a position right now where hes much more isolated than he realizes, Gingrich said in an interview with Fox News Bill Hemmer. On the Hill, he has far more people willing to sit to one side and not help him right now, and I think that he needs to recognize that hes taken a good first step with bringing in General Kelly, but he needs to think about what has not worked. You dont get down to 35 percent approval and have people in your own party shooting at you and conclude that everythings going fine.
How many times have we had this conversation? It was John McCain, Gold Star families and Access Hollywood. Is this week that much different than the numerous other situations? Hemmer asked.
It is only different in that you go through little ground, little ground, little ground, and after a while you have enough different people pull back that you are in a qualitatively different position and right now, that if he wants to get his agenda enacted that if he wants get things done and have a presidency that is stable, he is going to have to have a couple of serious changes, Gingrich said.
I think The Art of the Comeback, which is a fascinating book that he wrote in 1997, is a really helpful reminder and he needs to think of what hasnt been working and what he will do that is more effective in the rest of the presidency.
Totally disagree. There is a reason Newt was not CoS. This is it. He feeds the fire.
No, you don’t go around and cater to the imbeciles who want you to “moderate” and “temper” your statements so that you say nothing.
Trump has said nothing wrong. Period. Any suggestion by anyone that he has indicates they don’t understand the battle we are waging.
No, we are not the “10% far right.” ALL polls indicate Trump has lost zero support from his base (basically the 62m who elected him). He has gained some.
Newt seems oblivious to changes in voter registrations since Trump. Instead, he bases this on how many in Congress are “willing to stand up for him.” BS. These are PRECISELY the people we need to get rid of.
Have you forgotten his inauguration speech? Do you think ANY will forgive him? He was talking about THEM and they knew it.
Newt needs to get on board, speak less, and work more.
> On the Hill, he has far more people willing to sit to one side and not help him right now
Nothing new. The RINOs have been doing their best to thwart Trump since day one.
The RINOs are the reason there is a Trump. WE’VE HAD IT WITH YOU.
Newt doesn’t say $4it. If he has real advice give it. He sounds like all the other inside the Beltway pundits, full of himself with nothing actually to say.
More and more people are seeing through it.
I think it’s why Michael Medved got so angry on the air Wednesday when people kept calling in and supporting what Trump said Tuesday. The message from the deep state (I consider Medved to be part of it) is hitting a brick wall. And you can thank the internet and social media for that. They are all getting in touch a little bit with their inner Dan Rather.
“But, but, people are supposed to believe me when I say it!”
Sorry, Newt—but Kelly is part of the problem.
I’ll mention a name. Abraham Lincoln not only found half the country ACTUALLY at war with him-—yes, him, not the US-—and more than half of his own party tried to backstab him constantly.
And he won. He imposed HIS will on all of them. It’s entirely possible, especially if God is on your side.
And I’m convinced in this war, God is only on Trump’s side. The rest are pure evil.
Korea: time will tell if it was real success or just Ropa Dopa.
Fissionable weapons are simple, once you have the lutonium. In fact, with the exception of the Pu, everything else can be bought off-the-shelf here in America.
ICBMs are complex, so why not just give the Iranians (who have been there to witness all DPRK atomic tests) the Pu or even an assembled bomb, have them smuggle it into NYC or DC. It would easily fit in the back seat of a small car.
Park it on 5th Avenue across from St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC or on Constitution Avenue in DC. Set a 30 timer and simply drive away.
That is the scenario that keeps the Pentagon bosses awake at night
kyle griffin retweets... bannon not on Air Force One and decision from kelly is imminent as to whether Bannon keeps his job
I just don’t think it can all be about his personal relationships with everyone. Too much of this administration has been a never-ending game of who does he like, who does he dislike, who is he mad at, who is stealing the spotlight, etc.
As the old saying goes, it’s amazing how much you can get done when you don’t care about credit.
He has a slim majority in the Senate and galvanized resistance on the Left. He has a fractuous crew of Reps in the House.
If you are Mitch McConnell, you probably have a pretty sizable ego in your own right. And you have a pretty loyal crew of Senators who work with you. And you never know if you are going to wake up and see the President from your own party taking shots at you or individual members of your caucus on Twitter.
John McCain annihilating Trump’s first year with a vote is the most predictable outcome of the story that began with his crack on soldiers who don’t get captured.
He has 51 reasonably solid Republicans and Susan Collins. Jeff Flake is going to have a vote until January 2019 under all circumstances. What is the purpose of open warfare with him now?
It’s all kinds of fun to attack Lindsey Graham, but Graham is a nasty political operative in his own right. Again, what is the overall purpose in making an enemy whose vote you need until January of 2021.
And that’s just in the Senate.
Why is his White House so chaotic? Why is Bannon going to the liberal press to trash Cohn by name? Why is he saying that he is the one making military decisions? Why is he the one saying he is replacing people in the state department?
Why did it take two weeks to name an interim communications director when that person was in the building all along?
Why are there still so many positions with no nominations?
Trump’s presidency is not going to succeed if it’s just him having endless Twitter fights with everyone he grows to hate. Because he’s going to end up hating everyone at some point.
Anyone who doesn't see and hear the sirens sounding for the importance of electing non-establishment politicians to the Senate in 2018 isn't paying attention.
There are only 9 Senate Republican seats up for re-election next year. One should be an easy win to replace Jeff Flake. The other 8 I'm still looking at.
There are 25 Democrats up for re-election and this is exactly where the target should be set: Picking off as many of them as possible with pro-Trump replacements to take a solid 61 seat majority in the U.S. Senate.
The only way the game changes at this point is having pro-Trump majorities in both houses of Congress at this point and have them completely steam-roll over the RINO's and Democrats to do what needs to be done to right the ship of state.
This bovine fecal matter about both parties "working together" was nuked by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi long ago. There is no "working together" with a political party that's hell bent on destroying America (Democrats) or with a Republican Establishment group of RINO's who "go along to get along" with them.
Make America Great Again? Take America Back Again!
It’s good advice.
I said Bannon wouldn’t make it until the end of the year..Man, I hope this is wrong

My thoughts as well. Newt is right in that Trump is becoming increasingly isolated. That might not be a problem for those who just want a Tweeter-in-chief that sticks it to the MSM and the RINOs. But it is a problem if Trump wants to get his agenda passed. However Newt did not offer any suggestions on how to fix the problem.
There will not be a “stable” presidency as long as corrupt, traitorous politicians have set their sights on taking down the president. It’s not his fault there are so many dumbed-down idiots who are easily managed by marxist MSM, “educators” and politicians.
PDJT is working long hours each day trying to get the country straightened out. On top of the huge complicated mess left by decades of deliberate sabotage, he has to contend with overt and covert rebellion by establishment operatives embedded within the infrastructure. I’m amazed he can get anything accomplished, considering the opposition.
My hopes for accomplishing restoration of the republic remain outside the system. IMO, it’s that bad.
Nevertheless, we pray and hope that God will grant us divine intervention and spare us bloodshed.
Newt goes off the rails again. Happens once a week.
Screw Newt, ever since he tiptoed through the tulips with Granny Bobblehead he’s been a waffling RINO...

Funny (but not really) how the Republicans the left reviled are now
useful idiots with gravitas...
“Well then Newt can call him and tell him in private”
Absolutely right. Newt is first and foremost a native. That is, he a charter member of the ruling class. He can be brilliant but his loyalty to the GOPe is very strong. Watch how he reacts if Hannity goes after Mitch. He really is a creature of the beltway first and foremost. The last thing Trump needs right now is one of his “defenders” being critical in public.
