Trump Is Just Six Senate Votes Away From Impeachment

At some point in 2019 (if not sooner) a Republican Senator may walk into the Oval Office and say to President Trump: “Mr. President, we don’t have the votes,” at which point the Trump presidency will end in a resignation or a conviction in the Senate.

This scenario actually occurred forty-three years ago this summer when Republican Senator Barry Goldwater walked into the Oval Office and told Republican President Richard Nixon that they didn’t have the votes in the Senate to save his presidency.

If it were to happen the cultural war will quickly escalate from a war of bats and fists to a war of bombs and bullets. Antifa and BLM will be finished within a month. The deep state will take a bit longer.

Ok here is the money line from the Opinion piece:

Following impeachment in the House, a trial takes place in the Senate. Conviction requires two-thirds of the Senate and by my count there are already twelve senators who have shown a willingness to take on the president when they believe he is in the wrong.

If you add that to the forty-eight Democrats in the Senate (who have shown no inclination to work with this President), Donald Trump could be six votes away from conviction in the Senate.

Its complete fantasy to go from this leftists sense of taking on the President when they think he is in the wrong to willing to convict him of Impeachment over some serious high crime or misdemeanor that the House votes to Impeach him over...when there is still no evidence of a crime.

Yes. Newsweek is a joke. But so is GOPe in the senate.

Here is what the article says:

... this assumes that the forces now in motion continue on their same trajectory and result in an impeachment vote. They are: the investigations into the Trump campaign; evidence of weakness in the Republican base ; historical trends indicating a possible Democratic takeover in the House; and, last but not least, defiance in the Senate.

Well in the first place, the evidence is of increased pi$$edoffedness of the Trump base - it's not the Republican base - who are ready to rise up with pitchforks and boiling tar to run the GOP out of town.

And they keep trying on that defiance in the Senate and the result is the above observation. Suddenly, today, I am not hearing a lot of noise from some of our usual channels.

These pundits keep talking about “impeachment”, but there is a reason that a pretty high threshold for such an act was put into the Constitution.

Mob rule is not pretty, and even in the short run, has invariably proven to be quite prone to error.

Have these morons read the Constitution?

The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

Any republican who is not present would be lucky to be merely voted out of office. Do they really think there are already nine republicans who would vote for impeachment and that six more may join them - without even a criminal charge? I pray that we can avoid a second civil war, but atheist agitators from the Ctrl-Left are working to keep my prayers from coming true.

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say not a damn thing will happen.

Americans have let these people kill 50 million innocent children, Americans have allowed them to steal our money and give it to terrorists all over the world, Americans have let them flood our country with illegal immigrants and third world diseases. Not once have we taken to the streets after all the evil our government has perpetrated on us.

1. The Senate doesn't impeach. Only the House does.

2. The Senate tries the impeachment and requires two thirds of the members present to vote to convict. And the count is a lot further than six away even if you count McCain and his Mini-me as a vote and a half in favor of conviction.
