Ok here is the money line from the Opinion piece:

Following impeachment in the House, a trial takes place in the Senate. Conviction requires two-thirds of the Senate and by my count there are already twelve senators who have shown a willingness to take on the president when they believe he is in the wrong.

If you add that to the forty-eight Democrats in the Senate (who have shown no inclination to work with this President), Donald Trump could be six votes away from conviction in the Senate.

[Emphasis mine]

Its complete fantasy to go from this leftists sense of taking on the President when they think he is in the wrong to willing to convict him of Impeachment over some serious high crime or misdemeanor that the House votes to Impeach him over...when there is still no evidence of a crime.

The author of the piece assumes no change in the makeup of the Senate after the 2018 elections. More evidence of the narcissistic mental masturbation that passes for journalism/reportage in the current environment.
