Abraham Lincoln has joined George Washington on the list of those targeted by Chicagoans in a national debate over Civil War-era monuments.
Alderman Raymond Lopez took to Facebook Wednesday night to decry a defaced statue of the nation’s 16th president in the Englewood neighborhood. The giant bust appears to have been damaged after someone in the 15th Ward sprayed and ignited a flammable liquid.
“What an absolute disgraceful act of vandalism. This bust of Abraham Lincoln, erected by Phil Bloomquist on August 31, 1926, was damaged & burned,” Mr. Lopez wrote, a local NBC affiliate reported. “If anyone has any information regarding this act, please contact the police or my office immediately.”
“F- Abe Lincoln,” responded Quintin Mitchell, whose comment was “liked” or deemed “funny” by 160 others.
The official’s finding came just one day after President Trump stated opposition to tearing down memorials related to America’s past with slavery.
“I wonder is it George Washington next week and is it Thomas Jefferson the week after? You know, you really do have to ask yourself, where does it stop?” Mr. Trump asked reporters on Tuesday while addressing violence in Virginia.

This sort of thing was intimated in HAIR, the musical, in the song “Happy Birthday Abey Baby”. It has the repeated line, “Emanci-Mother-F-ing-pator of the slaves”, with a closing ... “Slaves, what slaves? I don’t see any slaves!”

So far, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and now Abraham Lincoln have all had their figures or statues disfigured by ignorant yahoos.
The fourth figure on Mt. Rushmore is Teddy Roosevelt. How long until there shall be calls for HIS disfigurement and potential removal from the pantheon of the list of men who have served as Presidents?
One day, perhaps ALL the memorable acts of those men who shaped and sculpted America shall be scrubbed from any artifact that showed they existed at all. How many of the noble leaders of the Rome Republic and the Roman Empire still have any trace of their existence yet available for study and review by scholars? Remember how the repeated sackings of Rome scattered and destroyed so much of the daily life of those Romans.
Andrew Jackson is probably also in line for being demoted to an “unperson”, a very Orwellian term.

SOME of the highly motivated ones got higher educations. But there was no comprehensive program to educate them en masse.

But I'll hit ya with one wee tidbit: the first negro admitted to West Point was James W. Smith, in 187p and it was without Affirmative Action! Sadly, he didn't graduate due to how he was treated and NOT because he couldn't keep up/pass the classes. The first negro to graduate from West Point, was the former slave, Henry Flipper, in 1877 !
Just on WHAT, do you base your claim that ALL blacks have continually suffered from a vast lack of of good schooling? Please reply in detail.
