A lot of politicians with just a little bit of backbone will have to get elected in the South before any Yankees statues are removed. As it stands now, most are for removing Confederate statues.

Furthermore, it was powerful tribes in Africa that sold their own countrymen into slavery. In America, one of the most notorious slave owners was a black feller. Brutal guy. His name was Anthony Johnson. William Ellison was another along with his relatives.

Indians held slaves as well. Raiding parties would kill the men and take the babies/woman as slaves.
A myth that many parrot...the Civil War was over slavery. False! There was indeed an issue with slavery, but not the primary reason for the war. Another myth. Slave owners were brutal toward blacks. Yes, there was horrible brutality, but there were many slave owners that were good, decent folks in need of the labor to operate agriculture industries.
In fact, after the war, many blacks did not want to leave their homes on the plantations. This is where they worked, raised their families, taught the children. There also were blacks who fought freely for the South.
Revisionism has perverted many a fact in America.
