That recruitment process will continue with the California National Partys third annual convention, which takes place on Sunday at the Betty Ong Rec Center in San Franciscos Chinatown.
Anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, who has been at the forefront of a campaign to qualify a California secession initiative, is the keynote speaker. Attendees will also revise the partys progressive official platform, which in addition to the contention that the Golden State is overtaxed and underrepresented on the national stage, advocates single-payer universal healthcare, an overhaul of policing and criminal justice policies, high-speed rail and a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.
The California National Party is distinct from CalExit, another effort to leave the United States and form a new country that has struggled so far to put that issue before voters. Members say they are interested in forming a more sustained political movement that can disrupt the two-party system. Louis Marinelli mounted the first campaign as a California National Party candidate last year, finishing third in the 80th Assembly District primary with about 6 percent of the vote, though the group says it never endorsed him.

YES! High-speed rail is a basic human right! Power to the people!
Good—a “country” for the illegals, socialists, anarchists, racists, welfare leeches, and rioters. We’ll see how long that lasts. I’ll donate money to build a wall to keep them in their new country.
They need to take responsibility for about half the national debt. Their politicians wrote it.
Norther cali here. I was born a US citizen, served my country for over two decades as a US citizen, and will die a US Citizen and have zero plans to move or leave my home.
There are a lot of us vets who are cali residents and US citizens who will refuse to give up that citizenship.
The left better not bite off more than they can chew.
Universal Health Care? Just send in 173% of your wages to pay for it. That of course is on top of the other taxes you pay.
Something similar may have happened with San Francisco, which separated from San Mateo county, and confined at the end of its peninsula, lost place to growing Los Angeles in the south. You don't want to cut yourself off from further development and resources because you never know what could happen in the future.
California may seem like it's wealthy, self-sufficient, dynamic and powerful now, but 20 years after independence it may start to look like a rundown rump state. San Francisco is already sort of unsustainable and kept going by people who make their money elsewhere, isn't it?
If California becomes independent, America will develop another Hollywood or Silicon Valley elsewhere, and Asians who invest in North America's west coast because it looks stable and dynamic might decide to take their money some other place.
If independence does come, though, I wouldn't assume that inland areas of California would stick with the US. There would be a lot of conflict, a lot of movement of peoples, and some violence -- all of that forced on people who probably don't want to have to make a choice about which way to go.
Only if we can build a wall to keep them out.
I’m sure they can go over to North Korea and carve out a little slice of heaven.
I was born in the Coastal Division, though I have lived elsewhere since the age of one (mainly in Florida and Kentucky). If all or part of California goes, will that make me a foreigner?
She and her ilk are NOT anti-war. They're anti-US, pro-communist. They're never met a bloody leftist uprising or revolution that they didn't embrace and support. They worship mass murderers like Mao tse Tung.
Well .. in the immortal words of Curly Bill .. BYE! Don’t let that soon to be erected to the east border wall kick ya from behind!
WE CAN DO THIS
Uh, no you can’t.
Being a "VOTER" in kalifornia doesn't even necessarily mean you are a citizen.
Now lots of people on this thread will be bashing Californians and lumping us all in like we all support this nonsense.
Those who do are forgetting that there’s millions of fine conservatives here who are held hostage by one party state rule... And we hate it.
Comfort zones.... Las Vegas and Reno
Sounds like Zimbabwe all over again.
It will be the Mugabe regime, and heaven help any whites who remain.
