President Donald Trump believes that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell did not do everything possible to pass an Obamacare replacement bill. When reporters asked Trump why he continued to batter McConnell despite support for the Senate Majority Leader from his Republican colleagues, he replied shortly, “Don’t make anything of it, we should have health care approved.”
He hinted that McConnell should have threatened to remove Sen. John McCain, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, or Sen. Susan Collins from their chair positions in the Senate to force them to vote for the health care bill.
“He should have known that he had a couple of votes that turned on him and that should have been very easy to handle, whether it’s through the fact that you take away a committee chairmanship or do whatever you have to do,” Trump said, offering advice for McConnell.

Heck — almost every major provision of ObamaCare has a sizable contingent of supporters right here on FreeRepublic. Just think about how pathetic that is when you’re criticizing the Senate for its failure to repeal it.

A handful of Mitch’s establishment cronies subverted the will of the rest of the party. This reflected poorly on the rest of the party. News stories say GOP lacked the will to follow though on their promises, while in truth it was a few GOPe liberals that ruthlessly cling to power. Trump is right and I agree 100%. They gotta go. They are a cancer in the party.
Exactly. The Congressional GOP failed us. Every elected member bears responsibility. They love to play hot potato and trade votes on tough issues with Senators not up for reelection. No more beltway games. Not going to happen.

Mitch might find out that is no longer the case in 2020 if he continues to actively thwart what the people voted for in 2016.

Nobody subsidizes my health care. In fact, I'm probably one of the few people who makes out very well under ObamaCare because it's easier to do business when my competitors are burdened with all those bullsh!t mandates.
Unless you are a multi millionaire when get sick somebody will be subsidizing your health care. Massively. Best look in the mirror and have some humility before casting stones on this issue.
The reason that Mitch is spine less is that he has been compromised. The Deep State has some dirty intell and Mitch will dance to their music.

I've probably paid out over $200,000 in medical insurance premiums in my life, so I'm very much in the red when it comes to "subsidizing" health care costs.

Maybe. But let’s keep in mind that a U.S. Senator’s first obligation is to his or her own constituents — not the Senate majority leader from another state thousands on miles away, and not the President of the U.S.

I don’t entertain any doubts that Trump knows which side of the aisle McConnell leans toward the most. I think Trump’s comment was less about any actual thought that McConnell is a real ally, and more about hanging McConnell out to dry by exposing actions he could have taken — and WOULD have, if he were a true ally — but didn’t.
Think of it as Trump openly telling McConnell that he already knows every single card the old gobbler’s got in his hand.
That’s some high stakes poker, right there.
My instinct is to condemn McConnell, but he’s only behaving as trained.
We must make 2018 as big as 2016. And McConnell and Ryan must be relegated to the role of yes-men under better leadership. We have less than 6 months to line up candidates.
He should have but Mitch is a big government guy. He’s all in for Obamacare as long as he doesn’t have to participate in it.
