Necklacing. Also invented in South Africa. Not sure who invented it, but the black communist “African National Congress” frequently did it.

It still says “Republican.”

Wiki says:

Political party
Whig (1834–1854)
Republican (1854–1865)

Other political
affiliations
National Union (1864–1865)

The Real Lincoln: A New Look at Abraham Lincoln, His Agenda, and an Unnecessary War, by Thomas J. Dilorenzo. ....fascinating read and impeccable research.

BS.

It's a poorly written, poorly researched book written by an idiot for other idiots.

Go here or here if you want to learn more.

Lincoln was 1st Republican President, as Whig party was dying out. The Northern Whig Party became the Republican Party, I believe.

So for Google to try and change history doesn’t surprise me.
The Democrats were the party of the KKK, and DNC marched in 1924 in their white hoods thru NYC.

There are a whole lot better books on Lincoln that DiLorenzo's screed. Try the following:

Abraham Lincoln by David Herbert Donald
A. Lincoln by Ronald C. White
Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin
As well as any number of collections of Lincoln's speeches and writings.

Google on Lincoln: "Party: National Union Party"

Just in case nobody else pointed this out, "National Union" was the Republican Party in 1864, hoping to attract Democrat Unionists.

And things looked bad for Lincoln's party in 1864, he did not expect to be reelected... until his generals began winning some battles, and those victories helped win the election for Lincoln.

Vlad the Inhaler: "Abe was a republican when he was alive.
But ever since then he has always voted democrat."

Naw, Lincoln was a solid Republican all the way up until... oh, say, 1964, then LBJ staged a coup d'état & seized the Emancipator from Republican control.
And ever since, they've abused & misused the poor fellow beyond all recognition.

On Lincoln: "No. Just gay.
He slept with men."

Actually, in those days, Lincoln's wife & children would not consider that a bad thing, far preferable to their husband & father having slept with other women, or even spending extra money to sleep alone.

Remember, Lincoln grew up in a log cabin, was self-educated and his needs for comfort were not as great as we might expect.

Bing gives similar results.

Could it be because they’re probably identified as “African-Americans” throughout the articles?

Democrat. He ran on the Union ticket with Lincoln in 1864. That’s why they called it that. Lincoln was a Republican.
