The individual healthcare mandate requires every American to buy health insurance or pay a fine. In 2016, 6.5 million Americans chose to pay the fine rather than sign up for insurance on the Obamacare exchanges...
In addition to those who pay the fine rather than buy the mandated levels of insurance, 15 million people would drop their Obamacare coverage if it were legal to do so.
This does not necessarily mean that these individuals want to go without insurance. Obamacare requires every insurance policy to cover a set of what it defines as Essential Health Benefits.[2] The more benefits that a plan covers, the more expensive it is. Some people might prefer to buy less comprehensive insurance at a lower cost. For example, one option might be to buy insurance only for major healthcare costs such as surgeries or hospitalizations.
Since most Americans receive health insurance from their employer, the rising cost of healthcare is a key factor holding down wage growth. If the cost of benefits were the same today as a generation ago, the average pay for full-time workers would be more than $3,300 higher annually. Some people might prefer a bigger paycheck and less comprehensive coverage.
He notes that only about 40 percent of those eligible for subsidies have signed up for coverage. In what other business or government program would such a dismal acceptance by those it was targeted to serve be considered a success?[1]
However, 6.5 million pay a TAX (fine per the Supreme Court infinite wisdom)rather than sign up for Obamacare and 15 million would DROP their coverage if they could legally.
Why won't the "Republicans" and MSM report these statistics to the entire world!!!
Because it's the party of STUPID!
In other words, 21.5 million Americans losing Obamacare insurance would be an improvement, not a reason to keep that harmful socialist law. We need a clean Obamacare repeal, nothing more.
Man! Now that is what I call a success!
Hope that Trump tweets about this!
How many have died because they didn’t have 0bamacare?
“———————15 million people would drop their Obamacare coverage if it were legal to do so.”
I NEVER in my long life thought that illegality would ever apply to cancellation of medical coverage.
Absolute insanity.
.
How many have died because they didnt have 0bamacare?

Considering the monthly premiums and deductibles it’s cheaper to pay the government mandated fine.
And this 6.5 million people are those who filed and paid IRS returns.
How many millions more are out there who paid NO FINE. Because they don’t earn enough to even file?
.
>> “Considering the monthly premiums and deductibles its cheaper to pay the government mandated fine.” <<
Healthier too!
Staying away from doctors keeps one healthy, and off of their deadly drugs!
.
My tax preparer at H & R Block said they were told NOT to enforce the penalty.
Anyone lacking health insurance was told NOT to pay a penalty.
Republicans’ fault 6.5 M Americans forced off healthcare!
Just another democrat redistribution/reparations scam to extort earnings from workers and use the money to finance handouts for moochers, illegals, government employees and other democrat faithfuls.
What are the feds doing with the windfall?
6.5 million x $1000 — is that 6.5 billion? Or thereabouts?
They paid a fine and STILL didn’t get insurance
Well whadya know it was a tax after all. Roberts the traitor was right.
But the law is still there.
Waiting for the next democrat or RINO president to enforce and collect arrears from the fines/taxes not collected during the Trump years.
It may be less and the feds turn the thumb screws tighter and tighter in the coming years.
People are smart — if a person is healthy and young, why pay an ins premium that is higher than the penalty... that is the logic and it makes sense.
I saw the best argument against socialized medicine goes like this: Ask a liberal if they trust the government. If they say no, which is likely, then ask them why they would trust the same government to run everyone’s health care.
