The initiative would seek to repeal a provision in the California Constitution “stating California is an inseparable part of the United States,” it says, adding that there would be an agreement to establish California as a “fully independent country.”

YES! Cher's wet dream! I don't know anyone who is against this.

Will never happen because the Dems can’t lose CA’s 55 electoral votes.

Wonder if the c/exiters have studied any history. By my recollection, this course did not work out too well for some other rebels.

<>By the way, what are the c/exiters going to do without Colorado River Water or disconnection from the western power grid.

Then they shouldn’t need the Fed dollars being pumped into their sanctuary cities.

I’m fine with California being an independent country, given the following:
1. Not a penny of foreign aid from the U.S., under any conditions.
2. No refugees from California to be admitted into the U.S. after independence is established.

What dollars. You get nothing from us if you leave. We’ll plumb all of the water from lake Powell into southern Arizona and get our winter produce from there.

Okay, US can play ball too. First, restrict all US government from doing business in California—no conferences, no new business. Maybe begin moving out government operations. End federal funding of sanctuary cities, counties, and states, such as California. Bet they change their tune really quick. California would die without the federal government and its tax money, its operations.

So California becomes an independent country saddled with debt, unrealistic pension obligations, high energy costs, a failing movie industry, etc. So what happens when they no longer get water from the Colorado River or when Northern California sues for independence?

Time for the government to close its military bases and installations and inform defense companies they won’t buy products built in California. This will accelerate the capital flight from California.

I wonder if they have thought through the effects of a win. Won’t it be hilarious when they realize they have to throw out the illegals to make their new country viable? Can’t wait to see them implement universal single payer health care. And, eventually, they will build a wall to stop people from leaving. In a decade the place will look like a scene from an apocalyptic movie.

What about the military bases? Will the military withdraw to Oregon and Washington? Who will pay for all that prime real estate?

Does that include the debt? Especially with CA transitions from a tech center state to a socialist welfare state where no one is working or producing anything — the liberal utopia?

Interesting. Out-of-control FEDGOV leviathan is ripping off many states.

Those so inclined (if they haven’t already surrendered their citizenship) certainly have the right to take their money and talents into a system of government that more accurately reflects their values.

But the land, water, etc. is ours. The rest of the country is not going to allow a staging area the size and location of California to exist on our West coast.

No more EBT/SNAP, WIC, Section 8, HUD, Medicaid, Medicare, Obama phones, student loans, student grants, college loans. Just for a start.

IIRC, geographically most of California is conservative. However, the dense concentration of liberals in the big coastal cities outweighs the lightly populated conservative areas.

If California leaves the US many good conservatives in California will suffer even more than they do now.

Fedzilla spends around $368 bil/yr on CA. That’s an average of about $9,500 per citizen.

Note to CA: Make. Our. Day.
