McConnell to consider bipartisan plan to pay health insurers

A week after an attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act failed, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he’d consider a bipartisan effort to continue payments to insurers to avert a costly rattling of health insurance markets.

McConnell told reporters Saturday there is “still a chance” the Senate could revive the measure to repeal and replace “Obamacare,” but he acknowledged the window for that is rapidly closing.

The Kentucky senator noted Republican Sen. Lamar Alexander of Tennessee is working on “some kind of bipartisan approach” that would involve subsidies for insurance companies.

Alexander recently said he will work with the committee’s top Democrat, Sen. Patty Murray of Washington state, on a bill next month that would pay insurers through 2018. In exchange, Alexander wants Democrats to agree to make it easier for states to choose their own health coverage standards that insurers must provide rather than abiding by former President Barack Obama’s law. …

I don’t think he lost his brain...this is all very deliberate to fulfill the wishes of his donors.

So lemmee get this straight, they are having record profits and want more government handouts to keep from raising rates. Must be nice having a mandated monopoly.

During the debate phase they were all concerned about medicaid. Now they are all concerned about the insurance companies.

How come the concern is always about the people who don’t pay the premiums? There are subsidies for the poor, the congress, and the insurance companies.

Yet there NEVER SEEMS TO BE CONSIDREATION GIVEN TO THE TAXPAYERS WHO FUND THIS ALBATROSS AND HOLD THEIR NOSES TO VOTE FOR THESE ELITIST PIGS. :(

Agree. Purely deliberate.

If it’s not completely obvious, to everyone here...and everyone that vpted for Trump, that they - the UniParty - NEVER had ANY intention of repealing this D.C. pay out scam, then you are beyond lost.

HOW MUCH LONGER DO WE ACCEPT THIS WEALTH TRANSFER SCHEME (our hard earned money -> their pockets) WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A WHIMPER???

And, he## yes, my caps lock key IS most definitely stuck.

Why should we bail these greedy insurers out when they are paying their CEOs $20,000,000-$35,000,000 salaries? This will keep the huge deficit spending going to rescue Obamacare every year. Obviously, Obama was a lot smarter than Ryan and McConnell if he is still holding them hostage.

The insurance companies supported obummer care in the belief that they would have a captive market that would make lots of money for them.

They knew it was built on lies. They knew that insurance costs would go up and that you would not keep your doctor.

They deserve the medicine. You do something stupid, you pay. I do something stupid, I pay. Why shouldn’t the insurance companies pay for their dishonesty?

Yes, the donors are very important .. so I guess the VOTERS NO LONGER MATTER TO CONGRESS.

THEY MAY REGRET THIS DECISION.

Yep. If all Republicans can think of is to join the Dems in giving away billions more of our hard earned Taxpayers dollars to greedy insurance companies...then TRUMP MUST VETO.

D***, I wish we could have gotten rid of Lamar! the last time he ran. We came close but didn’t quite pull it off. Too many others running and it split the votes.

They say they want to pay insurers through 2018 but we all know it’ll go on and on and on if this goes through. >:-(

They’re paying people to split the vote up. This happened a lot at the end of the Roman republic as well.

They might pay some but not all. I know one of the men who ran against Corker last time and he wasn’t getting paid by anyone. He simply wanted Corker out and wanted a Conservative in that seat. He’s very Conservative.
But for whatever reason, too many keep voting for RINOs, in TN and in other states.
