Do not vaccinate: A growing, national anti-vaccination movement that claims the inoculations can cause autism in children has led Brooklyn pet-owners to withhold vaccines against deadly and spreadable diseases from their critters, according to local veterinarians.

Some posters on here are brain-washed idiots. So what’s new?

Some of those combo vaccines kill cats and some give them cancer; most are totally unnecessary, shown by titre test results for many years at university vet colleges. The rabies vaccine was up to 9 years immunity the last time I looked in about 2008, when I felt I should. Children do not get boosters every year - they’re not necessary. Why do vets say our pets need boosters every year?? Follow the money. Then follow the sarcomas caused in our pets, killing them. For money - for vets. Yes, the constant vaccinations destroy their immune systems. Luckily for my kitty girls, I caught on to this 20 years ago. Each of my girls lived to the age of 19, in spite of CRF and cancer. After 2000, none of them had any vaccines. My present baby is 8 & has had no vaccines since she was 2. She doesn’t need them. VETS love money. Bah.

Vets make more profit on vaccines than just about anything else. Unless it’s uncalled-for surgery on 12 year old dogs for $7-$8 thousand dollars.

You’re absolutely right. No sick animal should get any vaccine. But if the owner doesn’t object, the vets will give it anyway. They sure do care about your pet, don’t they?

Yeah? Just Try to get it. I have friends with diabetic cats paying 6 times the cost for insulin. When I had a kitty with hypertension I was paying $4. PER PILL for Norvasc at a vet clinic, until I got a vet who would give me a script & got about 10 pills for that $4.

The best line yet is we need to keep it overnight to watch it, then at 4:00 they turn off the lights and go home.

So why are they charging $300-$400 for an overnight stay to “keep an eye on it” when no one is even there to do so? It would be better and safer for the animal if you took it back home and actually WATCHED it yourself and brought it back in the morning.

Of course I’m not a vet. Vets believe in vaccines over First, Do No Harm.

Neurotoxins affect smaller animals more than they do larger animals. I did a whole study in grad school on metabolism and the animal’s size. Vaccines have the potential to cause more harm to a dog or cat than a human.

So your opinion is based on the Internet?

Tell your wife to look at the risks on the package inserts of the vaccines. To me, maybe only me, the neurotoxicity is not a risk I would want to take with my pets. I keep them in the house and they don’t have wild exposure or other animals, since they are cats. It may be worth the risk for dogs exposed to a lot of other dogs.

Where do you get this so called expertise?

Vaccines contain neurotoxins and I do not think they are worth the risk for my pets. I’ve vaccinated pets before but the ones unvaxed were the ones who did not get some chronic condition and allergies and such.

My opinion is personal experience and knowledge of effects of neurotoxins. Especially that they are insidious and the sequelae can come years later in low grade chronic conditions for the animal.

Wait — animal vaccines are neurotoxins? And they were given to you?

Erma Gawd....have you ever seen a case of rabies???

I think not. You have no evidence for your nonsensical and dangerous statements

WHO says that the rabies series I got is likely good for the rest of my *life*.

Why are my dogs being subjected to this every 3 years when the the rabies challenge organization has proved the shots last *at least* 7 seven years?

Anyone whose ever had these shots knows how badly they mess you up.

http://www.who.int/immunization/Rabies_slides_Aug_2010.pdf?ua=1

The Lyme vaccine [banned for human use due to horrible side effects] can induce the symptoms of Lyme in dogs *but* it is *not* easily curable, like real Lyme is, merely using cheap doxycycline.

The kennel from which I buy my Dobermanns has a life time guarantee on the dogs...*unless* I violate their protocols and administer vaccines they do not allow or vaccinate more times than they state.

This kennel is also THE kennel that volunteered thousands of _their own dogs_ to Fort Dodge for the parvo virus vaccine clinical trials, so they *know* whereof they speak.

And *why* is the rabies dose for a teacup Chihuahua the same as for a Great Dane?

*My* rabies shots were geared to my weight and I *still* had terrible side effects.

What is it doing to the dogs, who cannot tell us how they feel?

If you think that your dog cannot communicate that they feel bad, then you're a poor dog parent.

Vets are not omniscient, infallible gods.

Their course of study is not such that every aspect of every animal concern is covered in great detail.

The AMVA has recently researched the issue and come out in favor of fewer vaccines but some vets either ignore it due to profit margins or they don’t bother going to seminars to keep abreast of the latest news.

As an example, there are vets who wholeheartedly recommend Purina pet foods.

*No one* who gives a damn about their pets would ever feed them that toxic swill.

But nutrition, in all its complexity, is barely addressed in their curriculum.

AS another example, the banned for human use Cox2 enzyme inhibitor, now called “Rimadyl” is widely prescribed for pets, in spite of its *known* adverse, often fatal side effects.
Why give that to a beloved pet, when it takes nearly no effort to research the dangers of doing so?

They get kickbacks from the pet food companies, just like they do from drug companies.

It’s the way of the world.

Having said that, I thank the good Lord, above, for my vet.
He may feel differently than I about certain things but he never forces his views on me, nor does he provide anything less than exceptional, stellar care for my critters.

Oh, I have.

Three cases, right in my yard, all at once.

The dogs got boosters and I got the whole, miserable series.

Yeah, I’ve seen it up close and REAL personal and I *still* believe we vaccinate too often.
