Vets are not omniscient, infallible gods.
Their course of study is not such that every aspect of every animal concern is covered in great detail.
The AMVA has recently researched the issue and come out in favor of fewer vaccines but some vets either ignore it due to profit margins or they don’t bother going to seminars to keep abreast of the latest news.
As an example, there are vets who wholeheartedly recommend Purina pet foods.
*No one* who gives a damn about their pets would ever feed them that toxic swill.
But nutrition, in all its complexity, is barely addressed in their curriculum.
AS another example, the banned for human use Cox2 enzyme inhibitor, now called “Rimadyl” is widely prescribed for pets, in spite of its *known* adverse, often fatal side effects.
Why give that to a beloved pet, when it takes nearly no effort to research the dangers of doing so?
They get kickbacks from the pet food companies, just like they do from drug companies.
It’s the way of the world.
Having said that, I thank the good Lord, above, for my vet.
He may feel differently than I about certain things but he never forces his views on me, nor does he provide anything less than exceptional, stellar care for my critters.
Excellent post.
Neither docs or vets are infallible gods, and all work for and are schooled by corporations with profit agendas. Purina. There is NOTHING they make that has anything resembling nutrition for a cat. What a joke.
