Winter is coming for the North.
Last year, three states in the Northeast New Jersey, New York and Connecticut landed in the top five places people were moving out of fastest, according to 2017 data from United Van Lines. (The other two states on the list were Illinois and Kansas.) And data from Pew Charitable Trusts found that while people are all about moving to the South (their population grew by nearly 1.4 million people from 2014 to 2015) and the West (866,000 more people,) the population growth in the Northeast is sluggish.
The Northeastern exodus is particularly acute in many big cities like New York City. Since 2010, more than 1 million people have moved from the New York area which includes parts of New Jersey, Connecticut and Long Island to other parts of the country.
So why are so many northerners packing their bags? The insanely high cost
Data released on Wednesday by personal finance site GoBankingRates.com reveals that the No. 1 financial fear of people who live in the Northeast is that they will have to live in debt forever; the Northeast is the only region of the country that ranked this as No. 1. (The other regions put retirement as their No. 1.)
And no wonder theyre worried. The cost of living across the region is among the highest in the nation and three of the five most expensive states or districts in the country (New York, Washington DC, Massachusetts) are in the area. (The other two states are Hawaii and California.) Having to spend so much just to get by can make getting out of debt seem much harder. And housing costs and taxes in many of these states are also sky high.

Unfortunately the libs bring their Democrat voting with them.
Not climate change and rising tides?
Kansas?
That may be so but the traffic still sucks around here. And good luck finding a table at a decent restaurant on a Friday or Saturday night.
These states are exporting liberals to conservative places by their taxes and regulations.
Liberals looking for other nests to foul.
Having in lived in Wichita for about a year back in the 80's, I don't understand how they could ever get anyone to stay.
That's the truth. I was talking to two of my coworkers were talking earlier -- one of them, a rather flamboyent gay guy incidentally, is looking to buy a house. He's talking about how great the Carolinas are and how much cheaper and just plain nicer the south is. I've never discussed politics with him, but I'm assuming a gay dude from Boston is probably pretty far left.
Myself, I _like_ grey overcast days. Got sick of all the constant sunshine in California.
But that’s just me.
The problem with the Northeast is the people. I could deal with the cold if I had to. The people? Not so much.
I was stationed at Ft. Riley from 92-95 and I concur.
Raise the minimum wage and free benefits. People will come back in droves for the freebies. At least in the summertime they will. Oh, free housing will draw them too, more free housing!
Article citing data from Pew charitable trust? Yokay then. They’re not a lib/prog org much.
He'll feel right at home in Asheville, Charlotte or Raleigh. Most of the rest of the state? Not so much.
The sinking Earth and flooding from rising sealer/ocean level?
AMEN!!! Nasty. Just nasty.
The jobs are leaving so you have to follow where the work is going. Also taxes and the cost to live, including housing basics, is more than 20X a typical laborers wages. The transportation systems are clogged if you want to get to work. Shopping is minimal so it’s on-line or probably nothing. If you have property you have to get a permit and only used licensed workers to have ANYTHING done on your own property (too costly so we do it ourselves and are now criminals).
I can go on and on.
I’m in NJ and I cannot WAIT to get the hell out of this s**thole and down to FLorida!!!
Desperately looking to set up employment before I do, though....
Because even in cold weather, libtards stink?
