Senate Votes Down Broad Obamacare Repeal
NY Times ^ | July 25, 2017 | THOMAS KAPLAN and ROBERT PEAR

The Senate voted narrowly on Tuesday to begin debate on a bill to repeal major provisions of the Affordable Care Act, but hours later, Republican leaders suffered a setback when their most comprehensive plan to replace President Barack Obama’s health law fell far short of the votes it needed.

The Tuesday night tally needed to reach 60 votes to overcome a parliamentary objection. Instead, it fell 43-57. The fact that the comprehensive replacement plan came up well short of even 50 votes was an ominous sign for Republican leaders still grappling with a formula to pass final health care legislation this week.

These Republican Senators are a bunch of losers and McCain is the biggest loser.

I keep going back to this link to find out who and when. As you can see, most on your list were just re-elected, if not the cycle before, so with the exception of a few, most have 3.5 to 5.5 years left on their term as there is no Constitutional way, outside of impeachment, to oust these people.

The Senate has become our very own House of Lords.

The Founders are spinning.

The GOP is trying to get some distance between themselves and Trump. Trump is looking very vulnerable, and most of the senators are long term politicians.

No point picking this hill to die on if the payoff isn’t there.

Sad to say it, but they will never repeal Obamacare, and Trump is learning a very hard lesson.

Trump is looking very vulnerable? To whom? The people who voted before are not leaving. I have said many times that the time is perfect for the creation of a new political party. One that would destroy the useless Republicans once and for all. And Trump is the man who can lead that movement.

The people that voted for him had a say once every 4 years. The career b-crats have a say no matter who is elected.

Just like a CEO. He has the visibility and the power, but if the rest of the company is not willing or able to follow his direction, there is not a lot he can do short of shutting the whole thing down. Trump is in that position.

whether we like the results or not, the Constitutional Convention negotiations were clear that legislation required a simple majority, and treaties and vetoes required 2/3rds. These are only rules added at a later date, much later. Rules can go away just as they came.

Start with the ones who voted for Rubio’s amnesty.

Corker, Hatch, Heller and Flake in 2018.

Graham and Alexander in 2020.

McCain, Rubio, Murkowski, Hoeven in 2022.

I agree. The 60 vote rule can be changed, but senators are reluctant to kill that rule because that would make the senate just a second legislative body like the House. Doing away with that rule would have pluses and minuses for both parties.

Gutless Republicans. Beller about “repeal and replace” for seven years, vote on it when you know there’ll be a veto pen, and backtrack now that the pen to sign repeal and replace is there. Disgusting!

We are hoping now that President Donald J. Trump uses the veto pen to vote down what ever happens in the Senate.

I agree with yall that some of these Republican senators need to be primaried!

One more time---Obamacare is a $1 Trillion dollar tax hike on American families and individuals.

Read our lips! Cut Spending and Cut Taxes and this is one of the main reasons we took over the House and Senate and the Imposter Mooselimb Obama is gone!

Repeal and Replace....Skinny Repeal....Single Payer...BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH

This whole issue can be solved within 24hrs or less. Have Donald J Trump, President of the United States of America, rescind the illegal funding and waiver, from obamacare, given to members of Congress and their staffs. Tell them that on COB, Friday, July 28. 2017, the waiver and the funding mechanism is GONE. As President, he has asked that Tom Price, initiate an open enrollment period that will last one week for the affected individuals to get a plan from the obamacare program.

Problem solved by 1600hrs, Friday, July 28, 2017.
