In a recent article at Live Science, Laura Geggel asks, “Why Are Atheists Generally Smarter Than Religious People?” She claims that “For more than a millennium, scholars have noticed a curious correlation: Atheists tend to be more intelligent than religious people.”[i] How they could know this, since IQ tests and other means of measuring intelligence were only developed at the start of the last century, was not answered. Another problem is many kinds of intelligence exist, such as doing well on paper and pencil tests, or on performance tests, for example. Also, there exist intelligence in other areas, such as music IQ, math IQ, abstract conceptualization IQ, verbal IQ, personality IQ, even emotional IQ,[ii] and, according to some authors, 120 different kinds of IQs.

Arrogance is “more stronger” with atheist types as well as the liberals/progressives/whatever-the-heck-they-call-themselves-at-the-moment.
The longer down the worldly path the farther from the TRUTH. I thank the Lord my parents introduced me to Jesus at an early age.
I have enjoyed getting into debates with folks like this. I tear them to pieces in every subject. They are very weak in physics and mathematics. Love to debate global warming with them and I give them my well thought on theory on to why then dispute the current fraud science. Then share with them my credentials and tell them I am a Christian. The look of dumbfounded on their faces is priceless.
Maybe they are missing something? Maybe there is void in their lives that makes them bitter and angry.
Maybe it is human nature to criticize something that you want to believe in. A person wants to be convinced.
Christians have been their own worst enemies with the corruption and ignorance in their own faith. But it is important to remember that it isn’t the messenger that is important but the message.
IQ doesn’t include testing for ability to question one’s own belief system, which is a critical function of the mind. I believe atheists and liberals in general would score low on this particular function.
More important is the fact that IQ doesn’t test for the most important questions of all, the questions of divine existence and the identity of God. As already implied by other posters above.
I know brilliant believers.
I know brainless atheists.
I also know the reverse of those.
For someone like Laura Greggle makes a blanket statement like “...Atheists Generally Smarter Than Religious People?” Exposes their ignorance.....their stupidity.
I had IQ testing done when I was in high school, when some new fad was going through the system in the late 60’s early 70s.
Then again it was tested when I was in the Marine Corps for some reason.
Each time I was singled out with a group of others to take these tests fro some reason.
Then it was tested again in middle age.
It has always come out the same, mid 130’s..................
Everyone I’ve met who claimed to be atheistic would within minutes admit to being agnostic:
“There’s just not enough proof for me that there is a supreme deity, but that doesn’t mean I have sufficient proof that one doesn’t exist. I just don’t know.”
They are tortured souls who do not know how to love truly because they are separated from God. They have an empty hole in their soul and lash out because they are in anguish.
