Former CIA Director John Brennan said he believes if the White House tries to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, officials should refuse to do so. Those orders would be “inconsistent” with the duties of the executive branch, he said.
“First of all, I think it’s the obligation of some executive branch officials to refuse to carry out some of these orders that are again inconsistent with what this country is all about,” Brennan told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer at the Aspen Security Forum.
“I would just hope this is not going to be a partisan issue. That Republicans and Democrats are going to see that the future of this country is at stake, and there needs to be some things done for the good of the future,” he continued.
Brennan’s comments come as tension between President Trump and Mueller, who was appointed to lead the probe into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia, has mounted in recent days.
Trump warned Mueller in a New York Times interview on Wednesday not to look into his past business transactions, however Bloomberg reported on Thursday that Mueller was already delving into Trump’s financial ties.
The Washington Post reported on Friday that Trump’s legal team was exploring ways to use what they say are Mueller’s conflicts of interests to benefit the president in the investigation.
Mueller has wide bipartisan support despite Trump's criticism. Brennan, who served during the Obama administration, expressed his confidence in Mueller at the forum, saying “they don’t come any better.”

Trump should have fired ANYONE appointed by, or associated with, Brennan on his first day.
Its better to have a bureaucracy that temporarily can’t function, rather than an undercover one functioning to destroy Trump and this country.

Trump is the President and can fire at will. If you don’t understand that prepare to be fired.
Oh really? What enemy has he just provided comfort to? I thought only Democrats threw around the treason card without having any clue what it means. Apparently I was wrong.
A tad bit off-topic (or maybe not), but a rumor has swirled around Brennen for years, a rumor saying that he converted to Islam.
Now here’s the interesting thing. Left-leaning, left-excusing Snopes says that this rumor is “unproven”. Not false, but unproven. It is also worth noting that when Brennan was sworn in as CIA director, he used a copy of the Constitution, not a Bible.
Make of all that what you will. But I for wonder about his core motivations.
Then these “officials” need to be removed by the United States Marine Corp.
If an executive branch official feels that a presidential order or directive is illegal or in other ways objectionable, his proper recourse of action is to refuse to follow the order - and to submit his resignation.

What's not proper is to refuse to follow the order and then to continue on as if following presidential orders wasn't part of your job.
