A Delta Airlines pilot and a flight attendant flew off the handle Monday at LaGuardia Airport, causing a two-hour delay, sources said.
The 54-year-old pilot had a dispute with a 26-year-old flight attendant prior to takeoff aboard the plane bound for Portland, Maine, sources said.
He and the attendant exchanged words in the aisle and he called her a piece of s---, a source said.
His conversation was racist, inconsiderate and unprofessional, the source said.
Each alleged the other had aggressively grabbed the others arm.
As many as six Port Authority police officers, some carrying huge guns, interviewed flight attendants in the jet bridge, a source said.
Cops determined neither were injured and made no arrests.
But the crew ordered both to disembark, causing the plane to leave at 1:30 p.m. two hours late.
Delta could not be reached for comment.
Yep.
Flight attendant is probably a newhire and full of herself.
She is probably a minority so feels bulletproof and has absolutely no respect for the Captain WHO IS IN CHARGE OF THE AIRPLANE.
He should have had her removed and replaced before this situation took place.
I fly Delta all the time, and generally the attendants are great. However, I think they’ve had a generational shift - a lot of the more experienced ines have retired and they have a lot of very young attendants now. I think they may have a different understanding of the rather hierarchical airlines culture, and possibly that was behind this.
Also, if she is new enough, she is in a probation period and can be fired.
Wow. Huge, huh? Did it look like this?
Apparently the black female FA.
Is that a BFG?
Haha! Yah. A BGF9000!
UAC’s finest weaponry! Thanks, you gave me a good memory and a laugh this morning...
regards,
I knew an airline captain for a major airline who would have trouble from time to time with flight attendants. One time he refused to take off until a particular attendant deplaned stating “either I go or she goes but if I go this plane ain’t going anywhere” and eventually she did have to leave the plane.
Who has more social justice warrior street cred?
America is going through its own slow-moving version of China's cultural revolution.
And the authority. It is the pilots plane and if the pilot does not like the look of any situation it is up to the pilot to correct such situation to the benefit of the safety of passengers and plane.
There’s no parking in the red zone.

The pilot has sole authority on the plane. The pilots word is law.
The other crew members would be the First Officer, head CA and the other CA’s.
“All I can tell from this piece is that the pilot and stewardess were somehow dismissed by the crew, even though the pilot is the leader of that crew.”
AND, that the cops had YUGE guns.
We call it La Garbage for a reason.
Not to be picky but we’re called First Officer’s now. :)
I know. However, none of them have the authority to dismiss the captain. If the pilot is, say, drunk, then the copilot has to call airport police to have him removed.
The pilot is the final authority on board the aircraft - especially once in the air, but even on the ground, with the exception of having to get controller permission to move the aircraft.
Why fly La Guardia if a flight - on a similar time schedule - is available at JFK (much better airport), or Newark (available directly by train from Penn Station - a #13 25 min trip).
