President Donald Trump publicly chastised Attorney General Jeff Sessions again Monday, criticizing him for not seeking an investigation of the president's former campaign opponent.
In a morning tweet, Trump questioned why congressional and intelligence committees and the "beleaguered" Sessions are not probing what he called Hillary Clinton's "crimes and Russia relations."
Last week, Trump criticized Sessions for recusing himself from the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Kremlin. Trump told The New York Times that he would not have appointed Sessions if he had known he would step back from the probe.
Last week, Sessions said he had no plans to leave the job.

For a guy who not only survived, but thrived in the shark infested waters of the New York city real estate business, Trump seems inexplicably naive about the basic dynamics of high stakes politics.
That's how it looks on the surface anyway, but one Freeper said today that Trump made that statement about the Clintons having "suffered enough", as a truce offering. Per that poster's reasoning, the Clintons should have picked up on that signal and withdrawn from the field to live out their days in peace and comfort.
They didn't, of course, but joined the 'resistance' to take Trump down, instead. Now he has no choice but to go after them with everything he's got. Its do or die, and he's going to need an AG with the courage and temperament to get the job done.
Yes, but you paraphrased him, which substantially changed the meaning of what the President said.
All Sessions really has to do is impanel a grand jury. They will hear evidence and likely will seek indictments against several Hillary staffers and probably Hillary. Grand juries are secret so there really is no need to try this part publicly. The Trump folks can say it was always a mistake by Comey not to do this and, as the indictments prove, a mistake. Trump is in control of the process and it’s time he starts to level the playing field and force some sacred cows to begin hiring criminal attorneys. When he’s done with that, he can focus on the IRS and Fast and Furious with a grand jury.
Is the problem Sessions moving slowly or McCabe, a DNC operative is the current active head of the FBI?......the Obama obstruction of justice continues....
You have the best reply to this post by far. Yes, all politics aside, this is a working relationship.
If I were Trump, would as these basic questions;
1. Is he doing the job that I hired him to do?
2. If not, then why ?
3. The “big ticket” issues need to be addressed. Are they?
4. If the “big ticket” issues are not addressed, why not?
5. Can any of the things that Sessions did, be reversed? (I.e. can he un-recuse himself?)
If there are no suitable answers for these questions, then he must leave. He is part of the swamp.
DOJ priorities are really screwed up :(
“...he must leave. He is part of the swamp.”
********************************
Sadly true...a good man blindly stepped into quicksand in the swamp and apparently can’t get out. He apparently doesn’t have the guts to look the DOJ swamp creatures in their eyes and issue orders to change things. He is, in large measure, simply signing off on the agenda items THEY PRESENT TO HIM (e.g., asset forfeiture, oppressive persecution of ranchers in the west).
. Recusing himself might have hurt him with Trump, but it was the right thing to do.
I respectfully disagree. From our President’s reaction, Sessions did not inform his boss of his plans or announcement.
I hold Sessions personally responsible for the mess that Trump is in with Mueller.
I believe Rush has said far more than merely limiting the scope for Mueller’s investigation.
Mueller and Comey are “FRIENDS” according to Comey...
From his own mouth:
...the Justice Department for
doing a great job. I remem-
ber feeling great support from
my friend, the FBI Director
Robert Mueller.
(Page 12)
WAPO describes them as “Brothers in Arms” and having a long friendship
No conflict there/sarc!
I realize he cannot “prosecute”, but he had every means to urge investigation, and scream loudly to the public when the Obama Injustice department didn’t follow through.
Alas, I heard nothing.
That’s not an easy word to spell, but he got it right.
You want a Dem hatchet man to head the investigation. And you want to limit him to specific alleged crimes, not an open-ended fishing expedition as it is right now. If Sessions had been in charge, he would be accused of white-washing, since he played a big part in Trump’s campaign and he’s the subject of this idiotic investigation himself. He said hello to a Russian Ambassador. In his office. Woooooooo!

Sessions and Mueller are toast-itos.
Enough is enough. The country needs to move on.
Sessions is acting like he is there to protect the Clinton Crime Machine, as is Mueller.
“In a morning tweet, Trump questioned why congressional and intelligence committees and the “beleaguered” Sessions are not probing what he called Hillary Clinton’s “crimes and Russia relations.”
So says the man who immediately after the election said the Clintons were “good people” and he was not going after her.

I think Mueller is the worst of the worst a dem hatchet man since he has hired all pro-Clinton bias lawyers—one even fired by Trump, and worse Mueller is a dear friend of Comey. Additionally, Mueller is running a wide ranging open ended investigation to find a crime. So no,I don’t want a Dem hatchet man (MUELLER) running an open ended investigation which is what we have now...
There was no crime—no need for a counsel in the first place. IMHO Had Sessions not recused himself, none of this would have needed to happen.
Alternatively, if you believe it needed to happen or would have happened, and had Sessions felt the need to pursue a special counsel, perhaps we would have a truly independent person in charge limited scope.
This is a witch hunt/kangaroo court reminiscent of what happens in communist countries.
We’re six months into the term....
There will be no grand jury....
So many little toes to pedicure, so little time.

Because there is no crime, you want a hatchet man. It’s win/win. If he’s honest and reports that this is a nothing-burgher, we say “see. Even a hatchet man has to admit there’s no there there.” If he’s dishonest and he gins something up, we say, “well, what do you expect? He’s a hatchet man. But more mentally balanced people will concur that this is nothing.” If you have a Trump man, the exact opposite will occur.
“Trump expanded on his decision at a meeting with reporters at the New York Times Tuesday afternoon, telling them “I think it would be very very divisive for the country” to prosecute the Clintons, although he hadn’t taken it off the table entirely.”
This was a comment made in November. Trump can’t make up his damn mind on whether or not he wants her prosecuted, now he throws Sessions under the bus, publicly, on Twitter.
I have been very vocal in my disappointment in Sessions. But I am appalled by the President’s handling of it. He isn’t handling it like a man, he’s handling it like a child. And I for one am sick of man-children running our country.
I wish Sarah Palin or someone like her had run. I’m ready for a grown-ass woman to have a shot. Maybe some of this crap would stop.
