Rep. Meadows: If We Don’t Repeal ObamaCare, Voters Should Clean House
The Patriot Post ^ | 07/20/17 | Todd Starnes

For seven years the Republican Party has promised to repeal Obamacare. For seven years it campaigned for our votes and our support with that promise. And yet, even though it controls Congress and the White House, Obamacare is still the law of the land.

As it now stands, the Senate does not have the votes to rid the nation of the scourge to our health care system known as Obamacare.

The question is, why?

Are the liberal Republicans who control the Senate liars, backstabbers or just incompetent?

“Many conservatives are justifiably frustrated with the obstinance of their more liberal colleagues, but both wings of the Republican Party must continue working toward their longstanding promise of repealing and replacing Obamacare,” Heritage Action said in a statement.

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) delivered a stern warning to his fellow Republicans Tuesday on my nationally syndicated talk show.

“If we do not repeal the Affordable Care Act after campaigning on it for seven years, the American people will find someone else to represent them — and they should,” Meadows told me.

“It is incumbent on us to get things done. The people back home, they don’t understand why we didn’t have a bill on the president’s desk by January 20th. And quite frankly, neither do I,” he said.

Meadows said President Trump is not to blame for the inaction on Obamacare.

“It’s not the president’s fault. The president is all in on this,” he said. “A lot of Republicans forgot what they promised to the American people. We’ve got to remember those campaign promises.”

So who is to blame?

“The disconnect is when we allow those in the upper chamber to put forth legislation that would be supported primarily by those in the opposite party,” he said. “Given the choice between a Republican who votes like a Democrat and a Democrat who votes like a Democrat, the American people will pick the one who votes their own constituency every time.”

That’s a diplomatic way of saying Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is obstructing President Trump’s agenda.

“This administration is growing weary of no results,” Meadows said. “I’m growing weary of no results. If this leader is not willing to change the rules — if there’s another leader willing to do that — I’m supportive of that.”

In other words, if the Republican leadership will not advance President Trump’s agenda, then it’s time for some new Republican leadership. And if they fail to make those changes, the Republicans may very well be the minority party in 2018.

If you want the Republican Congress to send a Bill to repeal Obamacare to the White House, history teaches that you’ll have to wait for a President who will veto it.

Infuriatingly true!

Unfortunately putting the democrats back in charge would be the equivalent of trying to cure a toothache with a sledgehammer.

Amen! Speaking to the choir! These dirty bastages that campaigned, and voted, to repeal, and now have the chance, are in the fetal position of friggin' cowards!

McConnell and Ryan consider themselves the "Aristocracy" holding the line for all the other elite Republicans who are No Trumpers............

This is not a binary choice. We The People hold the trump card with our votes. All we need is for everyone who is considering a primary run to actively seek and follow the advice of David Brat on how he took down the then Minority Leader Eric Cantor. Simply put, it is MESSAGE, MESSAGE, MESSAGE.

The only reason I will consider voting GOP in 2018 (at this point) is to avoid a Rat takeover because they will persecute the President. Probably vote for impeachment. That's it.

I hope that the President supports MAGA primary opponents to every lying backstabber running in both the House and Senate. And I hope that McConnell finally shows some spine and forces a Repeal Bill vote so the rotten apples are flushed out in the open.

I take your point about the toothache and sledgehammer but the GOP Congress more closely resembles a malignant cancer than a toothache.

Each republican is thinking that even though voters might be angry he or she will be safe.

But they are killing voter optimism and enthusiasm ensuring that the voters they lied to will be staying home next election.

And the democrats will move in for the kill.

EVERY SINGLE ONE is up for re-election EVERY TWO YEARS in The House.

We must target specific ones, like Ryan, but ask around to find out who is going to run against them in a primary.

Nehlan is running again to defeat Ryan and we should all support that effort.

YOUR VOTE IS WORTH 10 OR 100 TIMS AS MUCH IN PRIMARIES.

In some precincts, there are literally only a couple people that show up. In one year I could have defeated a RINO locally if I had just gotten 3 more people to vote.

..... They are employees of the People and They entered into a Covenant with the American people when the electorate placed them in office with the agreement that they would repeal Obamacare.

.... Now ..... When asked to do the job the people put them in office for ..... They adamantly REFUSE to do their contracted duty.

..... As out employees they are now in breach of Covenant and Contract with the American People. Fire them all if they refuse to do the job they accepted to do. Shame them .... and take away any dignity they think they have left.

That's why the President needs to get involved in the primaries. The hue and cry from the GOP establishment will be huge...great wailing and gnashing of teeth! But he needs to do it. The only reason the GOP maintained majorities in both Houses is because Donald Trump was at the head of the ticket. He can motivate his voters to get to the polls in a way no other politician in my lifetime since Ronald Reagan has been able to do.

The word needs to get out that these upcoming primaries are most critical. We have the opportunity to run Republican candidates who will back Trump and his agenda.
Winning slogan for candidates:
“I Stand with Trump. Not in his way!”

I think Trump should add Merrick Garland to his list of potential Supreme Court nominees, just to send a message to the GOP Congress.

Because right now, they're just viewing him as a conduit to favorable judicial appointments, and not the leader of the party and the nation.
