~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Watervliet Arsenal, New York The Watervliet Arsenal is an arsenal of the United States Army located in Watervliet, New York, on the west bank of the Hudson River. It is the oldest continuously active arsenal in the United States, and today produces much of the artillery for the army, as well as gun tubes for cannons, mortars, and tanks. It has been a National Historic Landmark since 1966.
The arsenal was founded in 1813 to support the War of 1812, and was designated as the Watervliet Arsenal in 1817. It occupies 142 acres of land, approximately 8 miles north of Albany, New York. The location is adjacent to the Hudson River. The site contains manufacturing, administrative offices and storage areas. It also houses the Army's Benet Laboratories, which does product development, improvement, research, and testing. Nearly 70 years after the arsenal produced its first products it was finally thrust into national prominence when in the late 1880s the arsenal became the Armys first large caliber cannon manufacturer. During this period, production moved from the manufacturing of saddles and gun carriages to cannons. Remnants of this period are still in operation today as evidenced by the continued use of historic Building 110, The Big Gun Shop, for manufacturing missions. This gun shop once produced 16-inch guns and many other weapons for the United States Army Coast Artillery Corps. Benét Laboratories is the U.S. Army's design authority for large caliber cannon and cannon safe life considerations. A research, development, and engineering facility, Benét is responsible for the full life-cycle of mortars, tank guns, and artillery cannon for howitzers and provides tank turret support for ABRAMS and Crew Cooling for ABRAMS, Bradley and LAV combat vehicles; and provides support to the Army's industrial base at the Watervliet Arsenal. Learn More About Watervliet Arsenal HERE!! FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT~Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.
Please remember: The Canteen is a place to honor and entertain our troops. The Canteen is family friendly. Let's have fun! We pray for your continued strength, to be strong in the face of adversity. We pray for your safety, that you will return to your families and friends soon. We pray that your hope, courage, and dignity remain unbroken, so that you may show others the way. God Bless You All ~ Today, Tomorrow and Always |

Three days. The weather was lousy, so I ignored her only THREE DAYS! And this is how she treats me???? LOL.
I hope it’s just a stupid battery, which is a lot easier to fix than a voltage regulator, or a starter. Grrrrr.
The oil spot was worrisome...or maybe she was just “marking her spot” LOL.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...did you and Penny get out today?
They say it is going to rain for the next couple days. I was going to water tonight, but now I won’t.

Did you feel the earthquake? 7.7 in the Aleutians. Penny and I had a lovely walk around the baseball fields, but she has discovered how much fun it is to roll, roll, roll, on the freshly mown grass.

Thanks for posting this! I grew up not far from there in Albany and remember it fondly. One of my uncles worked there. Haven’t thought about it in years....thanks for the walk down memory lane. :)

Good evening, Radu!

Progress on the kitchen cabinets is going well - I painted a few doors today and we reinstalled one door. It looks good, and will look better once we get the flooring done.

Howdy, radu, how are things going? Hot and sweaty? We are roasting buns here!
I’m doing okay, and can you believe this building does not have air conditioning! There is a heater/ with a cool air fan.
To: Kathy in Alaska
Hi Kathy, hope all is well with you and mom.
My feet are retaining fluid - puffy and a little uncomfortable. Take care.
To: PROCON
YAY for cooler temps! Any chance they’ll stick around a little while or is it just a brief reprieve?
Hot here but will be hotter Wed. on through the rest of the week. NOT looking forward to it.
Kittehs have been behaving somewhat EXCEPT for the lil girlies. LOL! They’re SO rambunctious. They’re almost ready to be unleashed on the rest of the “herd”. That should be fun to watch.
Thought I was going to have to put Armand to sleep today but he rallied fairly nicely overnight so that’s on hold for now. Just gotta hope he continues to improve.
