WASHINGTON — The Russian lawyer who met with the Trump team after a promise of compromising material on Hillary Clinton was accompanied by a Russian-American lobbyist — a former Soviet counter intelligence officer who is suspected by some U.S. officials of having ongoing ties to Russian intelligence, NBC News has learned.
NBC News is not naming the lobbyist, who denies any current ties to Russian spy agencies. He accompanied the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, to the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower attended by Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort.
The Russian-born American lobbyist served in the Soviet military and emigrated to the U.S., where he holds dual citizenship.
Veselnitskaya acknowledged to NBC News that she was accompanied by at least one other man, though she declined to identify him.
The presence at the meeting of a Russian-American with suspected intelligence ties is likely to be of interest to special counsel Robert Mueller and the House and Senate panels investigating the Russian election interference campaign.
Contacted by NBC News, representatives for Kushner and Manafort declined to comment. A lawyer for Trump Jr. did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
Veselnitskaya, in an exclusive interview with NBC News, denied having any connection to the Kremlin and insisted the meeting was to discuss sanctions, not the presidential campaign.

In the NBC interview the Russian lawyer did say there was another guy in the room. She just wouldn't name him to the NBC reporter.

Its a rumor. Thats all it is. And it could be psy ops as I stated. Its not a rumor that kushner threw jr under the bus about this meeting. He did it.

I'm not a fan of Kushner, but on this particular point he may have been acting on solid grounds.

...and also, Don Jr took that meeting as a private citizen with no prior experience in government or any working knowledge of the protocols involved in contact with foreign agents (lobbyists).
Manafort should have had a handle on this meeting. Seems to me, he was asleep on the job.

Because when someone sets up a meeting with one person, you generally aren't going to describe it as a meeting with a whole group of people. I've worked in managerial capacities where this happens all the time. "John Q. Smith of the ABC Corporation is coming to meet with you this afternoon." If you ask me about it a year from now, I'll describe it as "my meeting with John Q. Smith" -- even if he showed up with two of his senior executives.
Oddly enough, it's important people like this who show up to these meetings alone that I remember most.
This happens all the time in politics...even at public functions. Cant be seen with so and so.
Except in this case kushner was on the email chain. Suppose to be about emails. Dangle. Instead about repealing the Act. He leaves.

Its possible he didnt..he should have but they were busy..might have just relied on Jr

I dont know timing of fisa warrant but I do know intercept of russian ambassador thought to spy talking about kushner wanting to avoid US intelligence with russian equipment might have been enough for a warrant..certainly enough to unmask identity.

I just read fox article on it. He mentioned goldstone. Says goldstone apologized. Didnt mention other people were there. Not sure it was necessary to say how many people were there. More like..hey there was a meeting. It was a bust
