When Donald Trump said he would not pursue legal action against Hillary Clinton after he won the election, the majority of his supporters were not happy. After all, what Hillary, her family. and the Clinton Foundation actually did, or were accused of doing through credible evidence, was obviously criminal.
Fast forward to today and the onslaught of false Russian collusion accusations against President Trump and it is obvious why not going after Hillary was a huge mistake.
After the election, as there always seems to be, there is a kind of political vacuum period. It is usually called a honeymoon for a newly elected president. Unfortunately, this period of time is mostly controlled by the media.

He said he would not pursue legal action. Does he also mean that his DOJ would not pursue it?
It’s STILL early, guys. And, the Clinton’s may have dirt on Trump. They do on damn near everybody else on the planet.
And there’s always STDs and cancer!
that is a very good point. harken back to Don Corleone in the Godfather when he made the pronouncement at the meeting of the five families. “i swear on the graves of my grandchildren that I will not be the one to break the peace we made here today”. not long after, Michael took care of that promise..heh...heh...heh
He said he would not pursue legal action.
But look at the crimes and felonies that have come to light since Inaugration Day. Trump has made a huge mistake by not fighting fire with fire.
The dems got a Special Counseler (Mueller) to investigate Trump? Well, WHERE is our Speciall Prosecutor to investigate Hillary, Bill, Comey, Lynch, Huma and of course Obama?
I’ve heard we have an Attorney General. Jeff Somebody or other. Well WHERE in the HELL is he? The worst political crimes in US history are being ignored while much ado about nothing is being force fed down our throats with this Trump J. nothing burger.
This is ALL on Sessions. He swore an oath to follow th law. He could summon his own grand jury, subpoena evidence, confiscate the DNC computers and documents. He is remiss.
Also he should go after Comey.
I think the Trumpsters must believe that if they go easy on Hillary, Huma, Weiner, ValJar, Lynch, Clapper, Brennan, Comey et al, then maybe Mueller will go easy on Don.
Instead they are now trying to throw Trump’s kid in jail and destroy his whole family.
“Instead they are now trying to throw Trumps kid in jail and destroy his whole family.”
Yup.
And we’re next.
What is the reasoning here? That Trump should have gone on offense against Hillary and that would have stopped the media attacks against him? Trump has pretty much been on offense against the media and it hasn't changed the media's tactics or substance. Prosecuting Hillary would set a nice example of deterrence but I doubt it would have any effect on the media.
Going after Hillary would change nothing about Mueller's "investigation". As for Don Jr, he went to the meeting. Prosecuting Hillary would not change that. What would change is the deterrence value of setting her as an example, even if a judge let her off with minor punishment. But I fail to see how that would change anything else regarding Mueller, the media, and all the others going after Trump.
I know that I am in the MINORITY here and I can not PRESUME to second guess POTUS, but AH NO. He has better things to do than to deal with HILLARY. She spent 40 years with a scorched earth policy and she lost. She is reduced to selling NASTY WOMAN T-shirts.There are bigger fish to fry.
Correct. See my post 6.
Sessions is USELESS here. He’s off fighting the War on Drugs when in fact the greatest political crimes in US history are being ignored.
No, Trump's greatest mistake is in believing there are any truly honest, good people in government.
Didn’t Christopher Wray already signal that Hillary would be investigated? How was she supposed to be investigated prior to Wray? Comey already did it. He gave all her underlings immunity and pronounced Hillary innocent.
So were we supposed to rely on McCabe? He’s both a Comey and a Clinton loyalist. He’d have fawned on her even more than Comey did.
Wray is the first possibility of investigating Hillary. Hopefully his confirmation comes off smoothly.
Trump can’t/won’t ever go after Hillary. He had given millions to the Clintons and they have deep ties. They know too much about each other to ever go after the other, and almost certainly are still allies.
They'd do that anyway, even if Trump had Clinton prosecuted, and they'd do it even more passionately and energetically.
The mainstream media would simply ignore the Hillary story and focus on Trump, as they did during the campaign.
And maybe, just maybe, if President Trump urges AG Sessions to empanel a grand jury and re-open the investigation into Hillary Clinton right now, the facts concerning her criminal activity in the news might be enough to quell the Democrats and liberal media zealots agenda and get them to ease up on pushing fake news and begin covering news that matters to the forgotten men and women of this great country.
Not gonna happen. It would be seen as a diversion and a desperation move. And going back on one's word is rarely a winning political move.
P.S. American Thinker, get a new logo. Yours looks like -- well, you can guess what it looks like.
WHERE is our Speciall Prosecutor to investigate Hillary, Bill, Comey, Lynch, Huma and of course Obama?....................... Forgetaboutit, to the Dems, anyone we appoint, say, Tray Gowdy, will be known to the Democrats, and the Media, as Trump’s Roland Freisler. (Gowdy would be perfect for the Job.) You can bet that they have their own version of Andrey Vyshinsky doing the work for them on Trump. The more smoke they make, the less chance of ever pursuing Hillary and the crooked DC Cabal. Trump will still be chasing shadows, like the ones the Dems are producing now.
He has just started purging various federal departments like the VA of incompetents.
He needs to do this with all of them, including DoJ, before he can go forward with indictments or investigations without massive bureaucracy getting in the way.
Another thing slowing him down was the challenge of filling many cabinet level departments, the managers who will be purging these people.
Donald “Hillary, the election results are in. I won.”
Hillary “I see that. I could hold this up a long time.”
Donald “That did not work out so well for Al Gore.”
Hillary “How long are you willing to wait to be sworn in?”
Donald “What do you want?”
Hillary “You agree there will be no prosecution of the Clinton Foundation and I will make the concession call now.”
Donald “Done.”
Hillary “Congratulations on your victory Donald, Mr. President Elect.”
