A quality of life study conducted by the website 24/7 Wall Street formulated a list of the 50 worst cities to live in America, and some commonly referenced shanty towns headline it.
The 50 worst cities list was not kind to the state of Michigan, which contributed two cities to the top 10, and is home to the number one worst city to live in the US: Detroit.

Lubbock, the little I know from being there just once, seemed clean, peaceful, sunny, if windy...

Most of the hispanic folks I know and am friends with are super smart, independent, self-sufficient and love this country like the rest of us do.
But...I don’t go to the mall. It’s like going to Juarez on a bad day.

Its also boring as hell, theres nothing to do there My first wife's family was from Lubbock. Her father moved them to California when she was in grade school, but you should have heard them pine for "home".
They were outdoorsy people who loved riding horses, and living the small town country life. Every other year they'd visit the folks back in Texas, and you wouldn't believe how excited they were to go. They used to drive me crazy, raving about the place.

I WANT to move to the Hill Country. :) I love the Hill Country, lived there for 8 years. However, you DO NOT want to live in or in close proximity to Austin. Full of nut cases and LGBT's. Just warning ya.

My first wife’s family was from Lubbock. To hear them talk about it, it was the nearest place to heaven on Earth.

Michigan completely rocks. That's all. There's a lot to be said for state pride. Be it far from me to ever begrudge that of anyone.

What were these areas like before LBJs War on Poverty?I believe it started well before LBJ. My Father's tool & die shop fled Detroit two years before my birth in 1941. Johnson and his liberal ilk didn't help!

I guess this “study” shows how objectively grading on certain criteria can create false outcomes. For instance, it lists Albany GA as worse than Baltimore, MD. Albany is a nice town, so obviously the criteria is giving skewed results.
