A former substitute teacher in southwestern Missouri was arrested Sunday and charged in connection with alleged sexual contact with one of her students.
Loryn Barclay, 24, faces charges in two counties as a result of the alleged relationship with the 17-year-old boy while she worked as a substitute teacher at Monett High School.
According to court documents, a Monett City Police Officer Jay Jastal, who works at the high school, was tipped off about the relationship in April. The officer said the student confirmed the relationship with Barclay on May 3. The following day, Barclay admitted having "an inappropriate relationship" with the boy.
According to the affidavit, Barclay said she performed oral sex on the boy in a car at a park located in Lawrence County, Mo. She also admitted she had intercourse with the teen at the boy's home in neighboring Barry County.

If two high school kids hook-up, it’s two people on equal terms, unless the guy is two or more years older.
In some states a 17 year old could get in trouble for having relations with a 14 year old.
Should there not be any laws? Should we let adults have sex with any kid they can?
To be clear, I don’t think you said they should be able to.
None the less some folks always hit these threads saying the same thing. “This was a victim-less crime.” If you truly believe that, then you are in effect advocating for a reduction in the age of consent.
If you don’t truly believe that, then don’t act as if this was a lark. It’s against the law for a reason.
NAMBLA would love nothing more than to have the age of consent for minors seriously rolled back.
When I was in middle school it was the late 60’s and the miniskirt era. And I had NUMEROUS hot teachers. But this kind of behavior was beyond the imagination.
Most states have near age exceptions and neither one gets charged with rape.
In a high school senior English class we had a student teacher who was a real dish! Any one of us males in the class would have easily succumbed to any opportunity to have it on with her. She might have been 3 or 4 years older than we were.

Under age kids are generally not considered to be in danger of being prosecuted for a sex crime, when they have sex if they are relatively the same age.
At that age, the worst penalty could be notifying the parents.
In this day and age, I’m not sure if parents are even notified any longer.
True, but sexual libido peaks for women at 28 and men at 18. I know when I was 18 she would have to come back to school in a wheel chair.
In my day, teachers only had sex with their students in ONE county...

I admit to being pretty hard line on this. I do so because I want folks to realize that in effect their comments might lend power to those who want to reduce the age of consent.
NAMBLA is the main reason why.
I will admit to thinking it's unnecessary for adult women to go after high school kids though.

I also went to school in the fine 80’s. I admit there were a few teachers who I thought about and were quite attractive. That being said there was a line. This new wave of teachers who replaced our teachers are very depraved,insecure and rotten on social media. Feminism is eating these women up. It has nothing to do with the sex. There is avoid of so many things within the soul of a teacher female or male who rationalizes having sex and inappropriate and usually illegal relationships with students.
I think her punishment at the very least should start with a spanking.........ya let me get back to you on the rest of that.....
