Supreme Court Reinstates Trump Travel Ban from Muslim-Majority Countries

The Supreme Court of the United States announced Monday that it will review the lower court injunctions blocking enforcement of President Donald Trump’s executive order barring travel from six Muslim-majority countries. In a per curiam opinion, the Court announced it will consolidate the cases from the U.S. Courts of Appeal for the Ninth and Fourth circuit, Trump v. Hawaii and Trump v. International Refugee Assistance Project, respectively. Both courts found the executive order unenforceable as a likely violation of the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment Establishment Clause because the lower courts held it was motivated by an intent to disfavor Islam.

If you read the “fine” print in the articles, the entire ban is re-instated except for those that have family members here, visas to colleges or are going to give speeches. Therefore, refugees or others that don’t have any connection are BANNED. Second, three judges dissented because they would have allowed the entire ban to stand. Postponing it until October is sort of moot since the ban is for 90 days. To me, the Liberals are going crazy, the country is safer and that is a WIN.

It's a victory in that the administration gets a "time out" to review its procedures. It's more than 90 days until October and it's over the summer and early autumn. I'd think it's a victory to be able to put limits on who arrives here this summer. Once the review is completed, the Trump administration can write a plan that is based on its investigations.

From what we've heard so far, it seems like a reasonable approach. It's important that one Obama-appointee judge in Hawaii didn't get to over-rule the President of the United States.

There is no Travel Ban from Muslim Majority Countries unless Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Jordan, Turkey and a myriad of other Muslim Countries have been added to the list.

You posted two threads on this news this morning. The first from Breitbart, the second from Daily Caller.

The Breitbart content did not expound the claim of the headline. It merely stated that SCOTUS would ‘review’ the Travel ban rulings by lower courts. Therefore, for a person reading for the first time, the headline appeared misleading and some of the posts reflected the confusion.

The Daily Caller cleared it up. They noted that not only would SCOTUS review the lower court rulings on the subject but that they would stay the injunctions.

Daily Caller did a much better job.
