Some of the top CEOs of technology companies in America met with Donald Trump at the White House on Monday, praising him for hosting an afternoon summit on important tech issues.
Im absolutely convinced that during your administration there is going to be a huge explosion of new opportunities because of the platforms that are getting built in our industry, Schmidt said to Trump after the meeting, as over a dozen CEOs went around the table to make comments after the meeting.
Schmidt said that the combination of entrepreneurs, skilled workers, and immigration would provide huge growth in the American economy.
Its going to happen soon during your leadership, he predicted.
Apple CEO Tim Cook said he was pleased that Trumps son-in-law Jared Kushner and his daughter Ivanka Trump were bringing technology companies together in the Trump administration to help streamline government.
The U.S. should have the most modern government in the world, and today it doesnt, he said, predicting that the tech innovations made in the Trump administration would pay back immensely in the future.
Cook also offered advice to Trump, suggesting that the federal government needs to be more focused on the people, which was not how it currently operated.
The government should be focused on its citizens, and the services of the government should be measured on how pleased the citizens are with receiving its services, he said.
Cook also told Trump that computer coding should be a requirement for public schools.
We have a huge deficit in the skills that we need today, vs. the skills that are there, he said.
Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos also praised Trumps administration for forming the tech innovation council, telling Trump that his team could be the innovation administration.

Sounds to me like they’re sucking up.
We need more coders like we need more people to do the jobs Americans won’t do.
Seems obvious, doesn’t it? These guys are happy because they just got their snouts deeoe into the trough.
The rioting, violent leftist loonies are going to look pretty stupid when these initiatives start to bear fruit.
That post was also myself, except I took typing in Senior Year High School, 1975.
Did anyone say, a room full of Freshman Girls. Ruf Ruf Ruf! :)
“Schmidt said that the combination of entrepreneurs, skilled workers, and immigration would provide huge growth in the American economy.”
Immigration??!!!!
It is obvious that our betters have concluded that Americans can no longer breed the right kind of stock any longer. The problem being, of course, that Americans have a tendency to breed Americans, and globalists don’t appreciate pesky Americans with their traditional emphasis on individuality, patriotism, Christianity, liberty, etc.
The problem is that we're breeding experts in transsexual studies while India is training software developers. If you need someone to build a new web application, who are you going to hire?
I have an idea about how to fix this. Require all of those colleges who conned our children into taking these "studies" programs to offer those students training in employable skills, at the colleges' expense. This way, they can atone for the con they pulled with these degrees in homosexual animal studies, the students get real employable skills for the money they already paid which they can pay their loans off with, and companies can find qualified Americans again.
Just a thought.
I’m surprised there was nothing like that said. Unless they were trying to get Trump to do just that— and have someone like Mueller use that again him...”is it true the President used the tech meeting to bully Bezos into getting the WP to back off being critical of The Administration? Hmm?”
Our twin grandkids just turned 15. The boy is interested in computers, so we got him a Raspberry Pi starter kit. That system allows a person to build fun gadgets while learning the logic of coding in a Linux environment. I would recommend that anyone in a similar situation look into Raspberry Pi. One thing I like about it is that there are no guarantees - just opportunities.
I had big hopes reading that headline, but the article is very disappointing. It’s another in a long line of stories about “streamlining” government, making it operate better, forcing it to behave entrepreneurially, blah, blah, blah. Didn’t Gore run one of these programs?
A monstrous monopoly only interested in self-preservation will never be able to do that.
Cook’s statement sums up what is wrong with this approach: “The government should be focused on its citizens, and the services of the government should be measured on how pleased the citizens are with receiving its services,
The only “service” from government I want to be “pleased” with is strong defense. Where were the statements about reducin ttaxes and getting government out of the way?
You are a lefty? Maybe you shouldn’t admit that here on FR!
;>)

Will the WaPo report this meeting with top tech CEO’s? How about last night’s TV news shows? They haven’t seemed to think that most of President Trump’s meetings with so many groups of top execs in various fields were worthy of a report....wouldn’t want the American people to know how effective our president is in getting positive things accomplished. /s
Amazon has become a monopoly and should be divided
Cue Loony Liberals call for nationwide boycott on WAPO, Apple etc in 4-3-2-1...
Typing was a required course in my high school more than 40 years ago. Best. Decision. Ever!
It’s obvious the Russian thing will collapse.
It’s obvious the wacko faction on the left is alienating the middle and making the far left unacceptable.
It’s obvious Trump wants to cut regulations, which all smart businessmen want.
It’s obvious cutting regulations will grow the economy.
So who doesn’t want to get on the band wagon before it is too late? These guys aren’t where they are because they are stupid.
My take: good news for us tech types???
Be nice if Bezos got WAPO off Trump’s back.
I’m shure they’ll get a lot of coding geniuses out of the big cities.
