Typing was a required course in my high school more than 40 years ago. Best. Decision. Ever!

Taking a typing class is one of the few smart things I did in H.S.. It led to better duty in the military - which was substantial.
I worked with teletype for some time. I could type faster than the machine could handle when I was making a perforated tape for transmission.
Ah, the good old days.

I took it as quarter semester in 8th grade. That class has paid dividends over my lifetime. Through college and most of my jobs. Bought a potable, manual typewriter with graduation money and used to type papers in my car. First laptop. 😉 Also got me out of taking basic word processing with typing test. I am not very fast.
