A Tennessee homeowner held two escaped inmates wanted in the killing of two prison guards at gunpoint Thursday until authorities arrived and made the arrests.
Tennessee Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Bill Miller said late Thursday that the homeowner caught Donnie Rowe and Ricky Dubose trying to steal his vehicle.
Miller says the escaped Georgia inmates had crashed a car while being chased by law enforcement and fled on foot into woods along Interstate 24 near the rural community of Christiana.
Miller says something alerted the homeowner that people were outside his home and he saw the men trying to steal his vehicle. The trooper says the homeowner held the two at gunpoint with a neighbor he called until the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department could get there to arrest them.
Rowe and Dubose are accused of killing two guards on a prison transfer bus early Tuesday. Authorities had offered a $130,000 reward for information leading to their arrests.

A classic example of the 2nd amendment!
“Armed Citizen Uses Gun to Stop Violence Without Firing a Shot!”
Can’t wait to see that headline in the media; it’s gonna be great!
Hopefully the governor gives this guy a big metal and the check for the money.
But it wouldn’t surprise me if they try and weasel on the money.
Knowing what they had done I would have shot them both, only story to tell would be mine.
Did he use an assault weapon, Glock, or AK-47?
The elderly couple who escaped from bondage and called law enforcement about the perps final whereabouts should also get a piece of the reward.
This action by an armed citizen was a by-product of the 2A. The 2A was added for the propose of allowing the citizenry to legally arm themselves so that the government fears the people and not vice versa. So that we the people can take things into out own hands if the federal govt. get tyrannical, which IMO it has already.
Self defense and hunting etc. come as a natural result of and function of an armed society.
I wonder what would’ve happened to the homeowner had he shot them?
It would have been tempting to me.
Interestingly the governor made this statement praising law enforcement but apparently no mention of the person who actually captured them:
Gov. Nathan Deal released a statement, Rest assured, justice will be served. My sincere thanks to our local, state and federal law enforcement officers who assisted in the manhunt. Because of their tireless efforts, the public is safe.”
It wasn’t their efforts. It was a citizen with a gun protecting his own property.
The AP story I just read had no mention of a homeowner with a gun. It just said “Authorities” apprehended them.
Armed citizens alive today to tell the tale.
According to Anderson Pooper, he used a fully semiautomatic AK-15 with a shoulder thingy that goes up that shoots a big clip full of cop-killer bullets thousands of times per second. The troopers are lucky the thing didn’t just go off all by itself when the arrived ...
That, FRiends, is what we call a "lie of omission".
A big metal what?
Sorry, had to.
Too bad they didn’t resist.
“How will the “authorities” renege on the $130,000 reward ...”
My thought exactly. These rewards are so ‘loaded’ with terms and conditions they are not worth going for. Now I would find a charity to connect with and let the charity go after the $$$ on my behalf.
Too bad they were not shot dead.
You are right.
That’s a bold man who can hold two homicidal losers at bay, while calling the law, keeping his wits about him, etc. etc.
Wonder what weapon he was carrying...have to think it was a shotgun in order to cover them both.
Wow! Are you kidding me? John Q. Public has had enough. Well done sir!
Flying Circus :" It wasnt their efforts.
It was a citizen with a gun protecting his own property."
Exactly true !
"An armed society is a polite society"
The value of an armed home owner !
