Doctors: Warmbier suffered "severe injuries to all areas" of his brain
Doctors treating an American who was released earlier this week by North Korea said he suffered "severe injuries to all areas" of his brain while he was in captivity.
Speaking at a press conference Thursday, Otto Warmbier's doctors said he is breathing on his own but does not consistently respond to verbal cues. Warmbier, who was in a coma when he was released, suffered "extensive loss of brain tissue in all regions of the brain," one of his doctors said.
Doctors Daniel Kanter, Jordan Bonomo and Brandon Foreman briefed reporters on Warmbier's condition.
The doctors would not comment on Warmbier's prognosis or his chances of fully recovering, citing his parents' wishes. They described his current condition as being in a state of "unresponsiveness wakefulness."

I’d ask for a North Korean doctor only if an African witch doctor or Navajo shaman wasn’t available.

Otto Warmbier Suffered 'Extensive Loss Of Brain Tissue,' No Sign Of Botulism
June 15, 2017·10:47 AM ET
excerpts:
Kanter and his colleagues say they've found no evidence that Warmbier, who has demonstrated no awareness of his surroundings, suffered from the effects of botulism a finding that appears to contradict the explanation offered by his North Korean captors. Authorities there have said Warmbier fell into a coma after contracting botulism and taking a sleeping pill.
Instead, the doctors told reporters that the more likely cause of Warmbier's condition is cardiopulmonary arrest. Their tests also did not reveal any signs of physical trauma to Warmbier, such as "acute or healing fractures."
In the meantime, our former Maximum Leader wants to distance himself from potential fallout.

I thought I heard from a North Korean expert that the North Koreans treat U.S. prisoners really well, that they don't want anymore tensions with the U.S. so WTF is going on here?

Many of them are mere talking heads, making a living by media appearance here and there. In many cases, they don't really have any more insight than we do. They just talk better.

Dr’s stated there was no physical evidence of abuse...it does appear he had a heart attack which then stopped blood from getting to his brain.....it takes just minutes for this type of brain injury to happen.

It’s been a year, so those injuries might have been healed.

What ever did happen...the Norks didnt want a dead American on their hands hence the release. I know he is alive but not to be cold....he will remain in this state until he dies..we may never know what happened.

Heart attack, suffocation, strangulation. Botulism severe enough to cause respiratory muscle paralysis or - interrogation/torture using curare like medications where they failed to keep him properly ventilated.

Fro the information I have found on US citizens detained in N.Korea’s prisons....Of the 15 Americans that have been held captive in N.Korea since 2009....all of them came out relatively unscathed apart from the psycological affects of being detained...but no evidence of physical torture..none.
It’s understood that N.Korea sees these people simply as bargaining chips so they tend to want the in good shape when the deals are struck.
Otto wasn’t released as a gesture of good will as Fatboys saying......they “unloaded” him as damaged goods. Sounds terrible but that is how the regime sees Americans....a revenue producing commodity . No doubt Kim got something for this deal or their would have been no deal struck.

Obviously the North Koreans would try to avoid injuries that could be detected a year later in order to plausibly deny mistreating people.
How could they imjure Warmbier that would result in his injuries, but also not make it apparent after a year of healing?
