Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts for a minute...
I've been watching the signs for decades. Piecing together cause and effect. Watching and being vigilant to keep my family safe from what I know is coming.
I've been saying for years now, mark my words, the sign to watch for, is when you see armed groups actively guarding communities, then the social breakdown will spiral rapidly out of control. The country as a whole, will end up being like Chicago.
To clarify, the groups guarding the communities aren't the problem, it's the reasons they feel it's necessary to do so that's the problem.
Then communities will start banning together for security.
Don't get caught unprepared.
All it takes is a group of those antifa nuts to shut down a highway and the stores will run out of food in a single day.
This situation with the left in this country will only get worse. Is it still theoretical when you see it playing out right in front of our faces? It's happening people.
Personally, I have a food storage and I have a really huge garden. I bought 300 additional quart jars for canning this year. We add to our storage every time we get groceries. So yes, I truly believe this is going to happen and it's not just words to me.
How much time do we have before the leftist force this reality on us?
So, if you haven't done so, PLEASE take a moment to commit to work on getting prepared. Just a little at a time is all it takes, an extra can of something you like to eat every time you go to the store. Put in a closet if that's all the space you have. I'm not kidding.
If you are prepared for the worst, good for you! Now help your neighbor get prepared. Tell other Freepers what you've done!
;)
The list of “internet/social media/easy entertainment sources” whose loss would set the snowflakes ablaze all comes down to one word: Electricity.
Without electricity, everything collapses. No more cell phones, no more TV or internet and no more refrigerated foods. Doomsday for modern society, really.
Does anybody really believe Kim Jong-Un would drop a nuke on L.A. if that same nuke could be detonated at altitude and cause an EMP pulse that could (in theory at least) knock out our power grid?
Or the sun could do the same thing. Take your pick.
Indeed. No uniforms, you know.
I can’t believe you included a blatant ad for “survival food” in your article.
“...your 52-Week Food Storage Plan has enabled you to purchase and store for emergencies. You will have accumulated all of the following:
500 Pounds of Wheat
100 Pounds of Sugar
40 Pounds of Powdered Milk
12 Pounds of Salt
10 Pounds of Honey
5 Pounds of Peanut Butter
45 Cans of Tomato Soup
15 Cans of Cream of Mushroom Soup
24 Cans of Tuna
15 Cans of Cream of Chicken Soup
21 Boxes of Macaroni and Cheese
500 Aspirin
1000 Multi-Vitamins
6 Pounds of Yeast
6 Pounds of Shortening
12 Pounds of Macaroni
Here is the BEST NEWS of all: the nutritional value for all of this food is, believe it or not, a whopping 1,249,329 calories (give or take a few calories). And, based on a daily diet in which you and your spouse each consume 2000 calories, the food listed above can sustain the two of you for about 312 days. Thats the better part of a full year.”
1) How are you going to grind that wheat? You need to get a very high-quality grinder, preferably manual in case the electricity goes out. That’s going to be near $300.
2) Just 5 pounds of peanut butter? This is a very calorie-dense food that can really destroy the boredom of many apocalypse diets, and it is pretty cheap.
3) You need storage vessels (ideally 5-gallon sealed buckets) to hold all of this stuff. That also costs money.
4) How are you going to cook/bake this stuff if the electricity/gas go out? You need some kind of solar oven, or a stove with lots of extra gas/propane, or just a supply of sticks for a rocket stove. That all costs money, too.
5) 6 pounds of shortening isn’t going to go very far.
6) Water - you need that, too. Either you have to buy a LOT (like at least 1.5 gallons/day/person), or have a means of purifying lots of it, or a bit of both...and, yeah, that costs money.
7) 2,000 calories/day beats less, every time, but it isn’t enough - particularly if it is SHTF time and you’ll be outside doing gardening work, reinforcing your homestead/shelter and doing patrol work (with neighbors/friends - you have those, right?). Speaking of calories - get the tuna in OIL, not water. Lots of extra calories there.
8) What about some food for the random stranger or family that shows up? If you have something to offer, a day or so of food and water, they are far more likely to just go away with a thank you than to get pissed off in their desperation and try to steal your stuff and/or hurt you.

There are other quibbles that I have with this list...
...BUT...
nonetheless, someone who has all of this in their possession will be much, much better off than someone who tries to go to the store when the balloon goes up to stock up (with a few thousand other desperate people). I absolutely DO understand that this is just BASIC preps (and for a couple, not a family), and that there are bound to be holes and imperfections (the website had many negative comments about the sugar, for example). This is a START, and a not so bad one at that. If every family did this over the next year, then we wouldn’t have to worry that much about an EMP attack or solar storm wiping out the grid, or worry as much about a massive earthquake in Kali.
Me, I’d prefer to have a LOT of rice, beans and oats, along with pasta for carbs. That stuff is cheap, and lasts nearly forever if kept away from insects and rodents.
Don’t forget the dog food or cat food if you have a pet - otherwise, Rover or Fluffy is going to die, slowly (and, possibly, get eaten). Either that, or you will have to use your precious food for the animal(s).
Here’s another good website to look at: http://modernsurvivalonline.com/ and here is its article on basic survival preps for comparison: http://modernsurvivalonline.com/10-urgent-preps-you-need-to-do-asap/ (Note that the title references 10 urgent preps, but the article actually talks about 15). I am NOT associated with that blog at all - I just think that it is a pretty good site with lots of interesting articles.
“Well everyone knows know where to go for food when the crap hits the fan. Not exactly a good idea to advertise.”
“How long do we have??
According to Terry McCaulliff, Friday.”
LOL LOL I’m dying...... Thanks for the laugh!!
“We all have as long as Hod grants us and not a minute more or less.”
OK, sorry, I couldn’t help myself.
Now back to serious: G-d helps those who help themselves. He gave us minds and bodies, so that we could mostly help ourselves, and He expects us to use those gifts to the fullest before we go and ask for the miracle de jour. It is what is known as responsibility - sitting around on your couch praying isn’t going to put food on the table - growing it or trading for it or having it stored WILL.
Thanks, excellent information.

Your first comment is not Biblical at all
Well I’m not interested one way or the other. I’m just saying if you’re a prepper you shouldn’t advertise it. As for Ip addresses etc. if someone wants to find you they can I understand...if you’re on line you can be found. Heck just google your name and see what pops up.
We know he’d hit just about anything. God knows what he’d eat.
I know next to nothing about this subject, but could you get a backup hand pump for your well? Or is it too deep for that?
Regards,
PS: I always learn so much from these threads, even though I don’t really like thinking about SHTF scenarios because being on Long Island, if the S really does HTF....I’m in big trouble.
My high school caf served french-fried Spam sandwiches with lettuce, tomato and mayo on white toast. The Spam was thinly sliced and dredged. The bread crumb coating was golden and crunchy. I loved institutional food. Of course, that was before Moochelle butted in.
Thanks, Diana!
Lol—that really freaks them out.
You know, I did mention quibbles and additions that I would make to the list. But I also was very specific in indicating that I understood that it was a starter list, and that anyone who bought the items on this list would be far better off than someone who did not. I was trying to be informative to the other people reading the thread, just as you were. No need to jump down my throat.
