Shootings over Memorial Day weekend in Chicago left seven people dead and another 45 injured, a count that surprisingly marks progress for the city and a drop in the number of shooting victims compared to the same period last year.
Monday Memorial Day was the most deadly day of the long weekend, with 24 people shot, five of them fatally, the Chicago Tribune reported.
But these totals are lower than 2016s tally. Last year, there were 71 shootings over Memorial Day, according to data gathered by the Chicago Tribune. Six were fatal.
This year, there were fewer shootings than over the past three years.
There was one more death this year than in 2016, but fewer than in 2015, when 12 of 57 shootings were fatal.
While any act of violence in this city is one too many, we were able to make this Memorial Day Weekend safer compared to last year with a nearly 30 percent reduction in both shooting incidents and shooting victims, Superintendent Kevin Navarro said in a news conference.

Good thing guns are prohibited in Chicago..
So, who gives a damn about people being shot in Chicago or if there is some marginal year to year difference?
Only fools live there. They don’t matter
I live there. I think I matter.
Looking at the weather history, there were thunderstorms in Chicago on Sunday, May 28th. That likely cut down on criminal activity.
No, the place has gone to hell and if you are still there, you no longer matter.
This reduction could prove the theory of the “self cleaning oven”. There are simply less targets out there.
Just another Democrat sewer doing what comes naturally .
Send in the guard. Declare the drug gangs as terrorists.
From 2009 until 2016, the years of Obamas presidency, there were 3949 murders in Obama's home town of Chicago.
In 2016, 78.3% of Chicago homicide victims were Black, 16.6% were Hispanic and 5.1% were White. http://heyjackass.com/category/2016-stats/
If the ratio is similar to the other years, its likely that during the 8 years of Obama's presidency, more Persons of Color were murdered by other Persons of Color in Obama's home town of Chicago than were lynched by Whites in the entire country during the 86 years between 1882 and 1968.
(Yes, Chicago is a problem. It's a much bigger problem than the liberal press and Democrat politicians are willing to even think.)
Statistics be’’s racist and the truth is not allowed to be told!

We know Chicago isn’t the problem. Neither is Detroit. Remove a certain demographic, and, well..........you know.Y’all know there is no magic dirt, right?
Guns are no longer prohibited in Chicago, thanks to McDonald v. City of Chicago.
What is prohibited is targeting the known violent offenders and putting them away for decades.
The norm seems to be either probation or greatly reduced sentences, and no Federal charges.
Cold weather has the same result.
They be running outta peeps.
