Olivia Newton-John is putting her U.S. and Canadian tour on hold after discovering she has cancer, the singer announced on Facebook Tuesday afternoon.
Doctors have diagnosed the star, 68, with breast cancer that has metastasized to the sacrum, according to the statement. The star initially postponed the first half of her concert tour two weeks ago because of severe back pain from what she thought was sciatica; however, further tests discovered it was actually cancer that spread.
She plans to be touring in August. Theyre all very positive, a source close to the Grammy winner told PEOPLE on Tuesday about Newton-John and her family.

My mother beat breast cancer twice and is alive and well. Modern medicine can do quite a bit.
Damnit...
Prayers....
How sad, what a lovely lady with a lovely voice. A real heartthrob of mine in the ‘70’s.
Sad development for her. I've always liked her voice. :(
Don’t like to see anyone have to deal with the big “C”.
Best of hopes for her full and speedy recovery.
I’m sorry to hear this. She seems like a very nice woman and I hope the doctors can cure her.
Prayers
What sad news. I wish her the best as she undergoes treatment again.
If the cancer has spread only to her bones she could live with it for many years.
Let’s just hope it hasn’t spread elsewhere. That’s the kind of spread that kills in these cases.
Prayers.
Oh cancer how we hate you. Breast cancer has a proclivity for metastasis to bone. May she be healed in Jesus name.
Sad. Prayers for her.
I suddenly became Mr Mom to two little girls, 4 and 1. My oldest became a huge ONJ fan and had a ONJ poster on her bedroom wall. Not coincidentally, my wife had a striking resemblance to ONJ - perhaps her way to keep her mother close.
This was the poster....
I have a framed article from People magazine I’m in dated Sept 30, 1985 hanging on my wall in my business. She is on the cover and clients ask about it every day. She was 37 and having a baby. Very sad to hear this news.
Grease was a terrific movie and soundtrack of hit music.
Lost my first wife to kidney cancer which went undetected until it had taken over virtually all of her lungs.
Evil disease. I would wish it on no one.
