Fox News host Sean Hannity has come under fire in recent days for spreading conspiracies about the death of Seth Rich, a former Democratic National Committee staffer. However, on Wednesday, he got some support from a surprising source: Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio.
After Hannity sent out a tweet saying his "heart is not troubled in the least" by a report that Fox News staffers are "embarrassed" by his crusade, Del Rio defended Hannity for what the coach described as asking "legitimate questions" (via Deadspin).
"Is it still possible to have legitimate questions asked and answered without venomous attacks based on political preferences?" Del Rio wrote on Twitter.
Rich's death has become a voracious talking point for many in the conservative media over the past month as unsubstantiated reports said he had been in contact with WikiLeaks and that he may have been the source of the DNC email leaks during the election, not Russia. Some outlets have implied that the DNC played a role in orchestrating Rich's death.
The conspiracies gained even more steam when a private investigator for Rich's family repeated something he says he had heard from a Fox News reporter - that there was evidence that proved there had been contact between Rich and WikiLeaks. A local Fox outlet then ran a story based on the investigator's comments, and Fox News followed with its own story that it later retracted.
The investigator also suggested that the Metropolitan Police Department tried to cover up evidence. The police department has denied those allegations.
Hannity called his critics "the biggest phony hypocrites in the world." However, he later said he would stop discussing the story "at this time."

His son wasn’t a very good QB, but kudos to Del Rio for this.
Uh oh.................Now I’m gonna have to like the Raiders............I feel so ashamed...............
“Just win baby” !!!
yes, Raiders fan here
Come on now, show a little love here :)
Oh bleep - the pitchforks and torches will be out in full force here in Crazyville, aka the Bay Area. The Raiders will want to move to Las Vegas tomorrow with or without a stadium.
Del Rio is a good coach and has brought the Raiders back, unfortunately for Broncos fans.
As a Pats fan, I will definitely wish him well until he plays the Pats!
Hats off to him.
Excellent!
I was thinking the same thing. While I don’t really follow sports, I know enough not to like the Raiders. :-)
No they will replace him shortly.
Something very strange about the authorities reaction to this entire Seth Rich thing. As well as his family’s reaction, do they know what happened why would they stop caring?
So are Orly Titz, Coast-to-Coast, National Enquirer, Butterdezillion..
"By the tears of Ed Muskie and the leaked questions to Hillary,
you all must stop and NOT dare click on the following."
Del Rio is a good guy. The Niners had the chance to grab him, but of course, they blew it.
Me too!
No wonder the Raiders immediately sold out all of their season tickets for the new Las Vegas stadium. The Raiders even offered refunds for the fans with season tickets at the old Oakland Stadium. Only about 1,000 fans wanted refunds. The rest will follow the Raiders to Vegas. I think a lot of San Diego Charger fans will become Raider fans too.
Better study up some more.
