Staffers at the conservative Fox News Channel are blasting host Sean Hannity and others at the network for their "disappointing" choice to push conspiracy theories about the murder of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich.
"It hurts those of us who are legitimately focused on journalism," one employee told CNN.
"We have a chance to turn the corner at Fox, and perpetuating this conspiracy theory damages our integrity," the employee continued.
Rich, 27, was shot to death last year on the streets of Washington, D.C., Since his slaying, right-wing news outlets have sought to link his death, without evidence, to Hillary Clinton
's campaign and the WikiLeaks release of hacked emails from Clinton's campaign.
Last week, a local Fox station in Washington aired a report claiming Rich was in contact with WikiLeaks before he died. The report, which was also shared by Russia's foreign ministry on Twitter and multiple Fox News personalities, was later discredited by Rich's family.
The employee told CNN that Hannity's aim is to "distract from any and all Trump scandals."
"I'm disgusted by it," they said.
Other employees said that coverage of the conspiracy theory affected the entire network, not just Hannity's show.
"It is disappointing because it drags the rest of us down," another employee added in the report.
"Even if tomorrow, an email was found, it is not a high enough bar of evidence to prove any interactions as emails can be altered and we've seen that those interested in pushing conspiracies will stop at nothing to do so," Rich's family said in a statement.

so its ok for the boy-toy Shep Smith to repeat the Russian collusion day after day with no evidence and no sources. But not ok for Hannity to report a story with an actual source and email evidence? unfair and out of balance!
Most likely. I do not think this is just a disgruntled snowflake at Fox, but rather a blatant marker that his time is up.
So, some unnamed liberal nobody is not happy that their agenda isn’t being followed. Gosh... that’s certainly newsworthy.
I hope Hannity doesn’t hold back. He really has nothing to lose.
Un-named Staffers = Fake News
The sources in this article are unnamed.
What kind of "real" source would go to CNN to complain about Fox being "illegitimate"?
This reeks of FakeNews.
He went on CNN and withdrew what he stated before. That’s why I’m not jumping in head first on this Seth Rich conspiracy until evidence is brought forth. It is no different with our guy either
You know if this all works out, the people may never vote for democrats ever again... ;o)
Maybe Hannity decided to play from Rachel Maddow’s playbook since Maddow’s show is beating FNC and she is spinning crazy conspiracy stories every show.
“Who is the whiner at Fox News? Could be Shemp.”
And/or his staff.
Reminds me of the Vince Foster so called suicide. Shot himself in the mouth with no exit wound. They made an exit wound at autopsy cover up and whited out the report typing that he had a neck wound. Plus all the other controversies and govt schadenfreude concerning VF— a whole list of them.
1. If Rich was murdered in a robbery gone wrong, why was his wallet, watch, and phone left behind?
2. Why havent the DNC offered a reward for information related to his murder?
3. Why are the left-wing and mainstream media mostly ignoring the case?
4. Why is Wikileaks offering a reward for information on Seth Rich’s murderer just days after the murder? (Wikileaks’s never divulge their sources)
5. Julian Assange and Wikileaks have a reputation of being 100% accurate and have stated that the Russians or any Government were not the source of their leaks yet offer a reward for someone that they are not supposed to know. Why is that?
6. Where is Seth Richs laptop and what information is on it relating to the case?
7. Why didn’t the DNC allow the FBI to look at their servers after the Russian hacking claim?
8. Why is it that we are relying on a 3rd party (CrowdStrike) as the sole source of the hacking story with no involvement with law enforcement?
9. Did the U.S. government do any real analysis of its own on the DNC hack, or did it just copy/paste Crowdstrike?
Hannity doesn’t need Fox nearly as much as they need him.
Marie Harf-wit, is that you?
The MSM hasn’t cried “fake news” and “conspiracy theory” this loud since Pizzagate.
Meanwhile they continue their search for Russkies under the bed!
“Conspiracy theory”—a favorite phrase of the mindless.
They don’t protest too much, they protest to an off the wall level. Somebody is very scared...
“Discredited” is not a synonym of “denied” or “disputed.”
