John says we're up but we still have some configuration problems, but they're going to have to wait until he gets home (3 hours). His laptop is not working and the only way he can get in is by his phone and that's giving errors. He's afraid others on mobile devices may be getting errors too. We're on a new version of the db software now and apparently there are some compatibility issues. And we're sporting some new drives including a new SSD (solid state) drive. Should be working pretty good after he works out the configuration problems, then he has to finish the sha-256 installation for security for credit cards. Then on to a total redesign of the system. It never ends.
Thank you all very much for hanging in there with us.
God bless.
YAY!!! We’re back!!!
Yeah! I realize how much I need this site to counterbalance the filth, lies and deception of the Rat media. Thanks for ALL you do and this wonderful platform to converse and interact with others-—God Bless——
“considered migrating the the cloud? all hardware issues go away once that is completed”
The cloud works great until it doesn’t. Doesn’t bother me for him to have his own server, but perhaps some additional redundancy.
They are hosted at the old Abovenet “Colo” and their version of a crash cart is a stethoscope and a few minutes of pounding a fist, combined with compression to get a pulse....
That physical site is where many people start but, when they grow up they move into virtualization beeeeeecuz, if a HD or RAID goes down, you always have an image you can drop onto another HD or into a RAID.
Of course it really isn’t likely an entire RAID will blow but, a single HD will FK things up, if you are still using 10 year old pizza boxes and getting anything from Fry’s.
Fry’s is famous for using RMA’s as their stock and if you look at the labeling on the box you can see if it is original or RMA.
Still, If JR and JR are going to keep everything in Paleo World Abovenet, they should keep some hot swappables they have tested instead of relying on those dorks at Fry’s, who don’t know Shiite about nothing and are their only really job is to push a device without regard to effect.
My dos centavos.
Personally, I’d VM on the cloud and go geo redundant and keep an image in my pizza box at Abovenet.
If Amazon, Level3 or any number of VM hosters were to go down then you would be on a completely different Class C or higher and a totally different provider peered to any other Tier 1.
But, it’s JR’s house and he duz whuz he wants...
I have no assurance it won't be sold to Soros for “advertising purposes” for purposes of smearing me and my family.
one questrion though. Would Laz hit it? ....with a stick?
The cloud uses redundant hardware the whole system would have to go down, not likely.
Works via my blackberry
Yay, you guys!
Just wanted to let you know that you’ve been my homepage for almost 20 years. Love you! You are doing the Lord’s work.
You have not been paying attention. It was a hardware problem.
It is beginning to make sense why Sessions recused himself. This Special Council will be able to protect Hillary while letting the rumors continue to undermine the President. Complaining about Russia trying to influence our election is just comical when we meddle in elections around the world.
Darrel Issa was spouting the same nonsense this morning Russia, Russia, Russia. This President is literally fighting for his life and the life of the Republic and the Uniparty is dancing to the democratic fiddler.
Oh! It’s SO GOOD to see FR back up. Terrible withdrawal! What a week for it to happen! God bless you guys. You are indeed doing His work!!!!
Working here on my iPhone .
Thanks for all your hard work.
Like I said, host in two disparate places.
He can make Amazon the main with his physical server the back up or vice-versa...
Thanks Jim...
Android Cell phone here...
All Good!
Jim, your website is widely enough used that you need a professional-grade server with ample backup and redundancy.
I recommend that you insert a few advertisements to help you pay expenses.
Don’t use the cloud. Stick with your own data storage devices.
