Variety ^ | 5/10/17 | Elizabeth Wagmeister

Posted on 05/11/2017 4:44:16 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

Steve Harvey is moving his daytime talk show to Los Angeles this fall, but his new staff may not want to expect a sunny welcome from the host — at least, if his past communication is any indication of his attitude toward his staffers.

A memo that was sent from Harvey to his staff surfaced earlier today....

You may be right, as a performer, I doubt he ever recieved and training or education on leading and managing people. Not surprised he developed bad habits.

He’s describing a textbook example of organic emergent human behaviors in an unmanaged environment. The man needs a competent executive to manage activities grown beyond his personal ability to deal with.

First thing that executive would do is make sure people have the information they need to do their jobs so they don’t have to accost the big guy in the halls to get it.

This was actually the correct letter to write, in spirit at least. But it needed to come from someone else to be seen as something other than petulance.

I do hope that someone he trusts comes to the same conclusion.

Honestly??

He seems like a very nice, friendly man. He says he has had that quality of his taken full advantage of. I’m ok with this and have lost zero respect for him.

He isn’t saying “Have the low level staffers never give eye contact” or anything Hillary has done. She didn’t even want a Hello in the hallway.

The guy deserves some down time in his dressing room. He deserves to not be accosted with desperate questions in the halls and constantly asked for favors. I’m good with him making sure people know there are times not to approach with demands.

Remember: with all those jobs he does, he is a major employer.

If y’all remember, he was lambasted for speaking positively of a meeting with Trump shortly after the inauguration. Articles like this are meant to destroy him publicly. I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt on this. If you disagree, feel free to send me your phone # so I can contact you anytime I want.

Bingo. This is in VARIETY, a publication that would welcome dismembering the president on tv.

Call me any time. I just might not answer, lol.

Maybe he wants to do this himself, rather than hire a yapping weasel to walk in front of him, clearing the way. I don’t blame him.

>>Like him or not, his success has earned him the right to set his own rules. Those who don’t like it can seek other employment.<<

Frankly, at the last normal job I had I would have given ANYTHING to send out the same communication (substitute “office” for “dressing room”).

Sounds like a businessman who has been taken advantage of by jerks that work for him. Streamline his time, root out those who want favoritism done for them and get the job done. Hmmm, sounds Presidential for some reason.

I did. I knew of him, just not his face.

Thanks. If you ever get spare time jch10, watch some of his other short clips. He is a staunch supporter of our U.S. Military!!

Maybe that kind of poor management instinct is the reason why he has a problem in the first place.

There’s a reason executives never do this - it doesn’t solve the root causes of the problem. As is, it will simply cause his organization to become dysfunctional in other ways to compensate.
