Variety ^ | 5/10/17 | Elizabeth Wagmeister

Posted on 05/11/2017 4:44:16 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

Steve Harvey is moving his daytime talk show to Los Angeles this fall, but his new staff may not want to expect a sunny welcome from the host — at least, if his past communication is any indication of his attitude toward his staffers.

A memo that was sent from Harvey to his staff surfaced earlier today....

I was expecting worse. He sounds like he’s been a pushover and is trying to reassert himself. Shame on the people that get a paycheck because of him leaking this.

Common rules, actually. Ambushing is now common. People have zero self-discipline or time management skills.

Sounds like a guy that was overwhelmed by the number of people who want a piece of him and finally said “enough!”

Like him or not, his success has earned him the right to set his own rules. Those who don't like it can seek other employment.

(I already waste enough time watching youtube clips. Thanks for adding game show outtakes to the list)

Youtube is TERRIBLE for me.

My weakness is First and Business class flight reviews

and food recipies.

Oh...and documentaries.

Oops, can't forget music.

Oh, and then there are Rick Steves videos.

Oh, I can't forget Rudy Maxa.

And Burt Wolf.

Oh yeah, Samantha Brown.

And then there is the occasional luxury home video.

Then there are plane videos, like Wings or Great Planes.

Steve Harvey

I would enjoy watching Steve Harvey in a sitcom involving teaching until one day I saw Him doing his stand-up comedy.

I enjoyed his stand-up until he informed the mostly black audience that they should vote for Obama because he is black. He said they needed no other reason.

Most of us already suffer from what I call "information overload" regarding news and politics but we also suffer from "entertainment overload".

It is relatively easy to sort out and select which news person or entertainer to ignore because there are so many to choose from.

Steve Harvey was one of the entertainers I do not miss. However, one day listening to Joel Osteen, he spoke of a person who managed to overcome obstacles to be what they wanted to be. An uplifting and encouraging message. That person turned out to be Steve Harvey. Whilst I do not seek him out I do not avoid him.

Sounds to me like he’s tired of constantly being ‘ambushed’ either with small talk or someone wanting his opinion on something. He’s got three shows he’s running which has to take up a lot of his time as it is.

Seems to me that even the nice guys (I don’t know if he is one or not though) have to put their foot down every once in awhile.

OK - he has had success and he can gather advertisers to sponsor his program(s). He needs to be seen as open and approachable in that public role but doesn’t want that actual role in real life. Yes, he deserves time to himself yet his only way he sees to do that is to push people away. The only reason they approach him like that is because he has not structured his organization for that to happen. He has made it appear that he is the one with all the answers, otherwise they wouldn’t be pestering him and they’d go to an assistant producer for the answer. It’s highly likely he has blown up about something when he was not consulted so now people bring everything to him in self-defense.

Yes, Mr. Harvey has more success and money than I will ever have and I don’t begrudge him a bit of it. His missive to his staff only exposes that he will not be long in his current role(s), IMO.

He might be a jerk who got paranoid after viewing “All About Eve”, but at least he has put his policies in writing, rather than relying on third hand propagation of his policy. For all we know, someone once tried to set him up for a compromising photo, etc., and he decided a clear policy was the best way to deal with it.

Notice is on for all who choose to work under those conditions. They will either be paid a bit better, or the staff will have higher turnover. No shortage of people willing to work on a national show under those conditions.

I could be wrong, but I’m gonna guess he’s run out of “nice guy” because too many people were taking advantage.
I’d like to think he’s a nice guy.

I have read that part of why he messed up the miss America announcement was because he was too important to attend the dry run. When he did make the mistake, he kept pulling the attention back to himself, even after he corrected it. I thought he was a jerk for that... this looks like more of being a jerk to me.

Steve Harvey has been hanging out with President Trump. This policy change may be due to, as we know, Democrats’ inability to behave, be respectful, not be rude — and even dangerous.

I can see a funny scene of Steve Harvey walking about and people diving out of the way to avoid his wraith.
A small child walks up to him and asks if he wants to buy some Girl Scout cookies.
What would happen? : )
