Comeygate: Democrats, who just weeks ago were screaming for James Comey's scalp, have now reversed themselves after President Trump fired the FBI director. Instead of thanking Trump, Dems are likening him to Richard Nixon, and calling for a "special prosecutor" into the firing.
Can politicized calls for impeachment be far behind?
Watching the Democrats splutter in splenetic rage in recent days has been priceless, a lesson in instantaneous political outrage whipped up not out of legitimate moral indignation but purely for political ends.
Things sure change.
Back in November, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer wanted Comey's head after he reopened his investigation into Hillary Clinton's email server and then, just two days before the election, promptly closed it down.
"I do not have confidence in him any longer," Schumer said.

Okay, so you got the memo? /s
And what makes you think that ANY Republican would fare better? Would a President Pence, a President Ryan or a President Joe the Plumber be exempt from the Democrats attack?
Call this for what it is; this is a coup d’etat. Once we recognize that, we can win. If we pile on, not only will we lose, but our children will curse us onto the seventh generation.

Dude..did you not understand my post. did you not see the words...republican potus.
DIFFERENCES:
BIGGEST DIFFERENCE - Nixon was such a dick that he alienated his own voters (by a hard-left agenda, further left than any politician of any party before or after), in addition to having the Leftist hate him anyway. So when the time came for Nixon to rely on his support base, it wasn’t there.
DIFFERENCE: The Dems ran Congress at the time - they had a clear majority in the House (which was all they needed to impeach him) and they were 56-42 in the Senate (other two were ‘independents’...probably leftists). Nixon could lose no more than 8 Republican votes in the Senate and remain in office, and there were a LOT of RINOs in the Senate back then - many more than now.
DIFFERENCE: Comey deserved to be fired - plenty of bipartisan dirt on him, and excellent work done by the Session’s deputy to lay out the case.
DIFFERENCE: The Republicans (hopefully) know by now that any ‘special prosecutor’ becomes a political player against them. Bill Clinton very likely won the 1992 election because of the indictments of Casper Weinberger and 3 others, 5 days before that election (for ‘Iran Contra’). The indictments were quietly dropped right after the election (since they were only a political stunt), but they swung the vote from a small Bush lead to strong Clinton victory. Any Special Prosecutor today would, again, simply be an arm of the Democrat Party.
DIFFERENCE: Related to the first one - Since Trump still has rock-solid support from his base (and firing Comey made it even more solid), ANY REPUBLICAN who tries to side with the Democrats against Trump will be put at risk of paying the ultimate political price - being driven from office. And the Republicans clearly know that, for even the biggest Trump-haters in Congress still are afraid to call for his removal...in in some cases, like Gorsuch and most of Trump’s appointments, have continued to vote with Trump. Even Paul Ryan who hides his presidential ambitions about as well as an elephant can hide in my living room, has to at least appear to support Trump (and that must eat at him every day). The key thing is the bond between Trump and his voters, and there is NO ONE other than Trump that can break that bond - not McCain, not Shuemer, not even the media - we’re coming up on 2 years of non-stop attacks...not a sign of slippage there. Trump is safe.
I am convinced that the demodummies will throw everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink at Trump in order to hopefully find something/anything that will stick to insure he is removed from office. They will never cease to be a thorn in the side of anyone who disagrees with them and their methods.
Nice analysis, Bob. And I love your conclusion.
Good points.....reinforces what we’ve always suspected about the Dumbocrats.
Their hatred for America is so profound.....they can’t even summon up a worthwhile position to participate in our elections.
Thanks - and Bannon is the key. If they Dems can get him out, Trump will be left with two types of people. The ones that hate him because he’s Trump (i.e., the GOPe), and the ones that think he’s simply wrong on some very important issues (Jared).
What would happen next is that they would isolate Trump from his people, which isn’t hard to do with someone at that level, and then have their ‘own people’, and rigged polling results presented to Trump to work on convincing Trump to ‘move to the center’ (i.e., “Trump supporters really don’t want a wall, just look at the results of Mr. Luntz’s polling”). While we’d like to think that Trump can resist that indefinitely, I don’t think it’s humanly possible. With Bannon there, Bannon will simply say that’s BS, and Trump will have a dissenting voice...otherwise it gets tough and very lonely and most people will break.
And the Democrats know all that, which is why Bannon is their top target...and which is why HE MUST STAY.
Great post BobL!!
Thanks - it’s critical that people understand the differences, and there are many!
I really appreciate your take on Steve Bannon and agree 100%!
Invoking the image of Richard Nixon will not make much of an impression on most people under the age of 45. For them, Nixon and Watergate are ancient history. The Democrats may as well be making comparisons to the Teapot Dome Scandal.
Trump needs to keep his eyes on the prize: Make American Great... Drain the Swamp... Bring Back Jobs... build the Wall. Clean up election fraud...
Thanks again - if you have a few hours, you can read my ‘about’ page. I actually did predict that a Trump-like strategy could win, based on the results of the 2014 elections...where Republicans fired up the base in Texas (and other Southern states) on immigration - and it wound up getting them huge majorities of the white vote (between 75 to 89%), and actually didn’t cost them anything noticeable with Hispanics...so the year that Democrat Wendy Davis was supposed to win the governorship, or at least come close, wound up being a 20 point blowout.
What has kept the Republicans from using that strategy nationally is the media and the social circles of DC, who consider you a racist if you don’t pander to minority groups...and the Republicans were TOO STUPID to even realize that they could win nationally by using the Texas model. Except Trump, that is.
But, but, but... Mika and Joe tell us pollsters KNOW democrats are 'winning'...
I read twice. If you identify your points as Liberal propaganda, my reply is not needed.
With RATS It’s all about power. Given all that they have lost under Obama I wonder how many of them harbor a secret hate for him.

I really really don’t understand your post. So let me make this clear.
Lib Prince Kushner wouldn’t have been underfire if he was right hand to Obama or Bill Clinton
He is going to be on the firing line as right hand TO A REPUBLICAN POTUS.
I didn’t say Trump
I said REPUBLICAN POTUS
IF you can’t understand that..can’t help you understand it.
