U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein are interviewing candidates to take over the FBI as interim director, after James Comey's firing Tuesday.
Four candidates are being interviewed today, fielded from senior FBI and Justice Department officials and the heads of FBI field offices across the country, according to a Justice Department official.
The four candidates: FBI Executive Assistant Director Paul Abbate, who leads the agencys cyber and criminal branch; National Counterintelligence Executive William Evanina; Special Agent Adam Lee, who runs the Richmond field office; and Special Agent Michael Anderson, who runs the Chicago field office. A new FBI director is expected to be chosen and announced within the next 24 to 48 hours.

They really need someone from outside the FBI and DOJ to clean house. They need to completely look at how all the Obama/Hillary scandals were (not) investigated and hold people accountable. Career guys will want to protect their buddies and institutional reputation.
Sheriff Clarke.
Good work, detective.
Not McCabe then? Excellent!
As I understand it the President recess-appoints when congress not in session. Looks like a good sense of timing if I understand all of this correctly.
Interesting!
The key to this direction President Trump is taking is that he is putting FBI professionals back in charge of that agency.
Comey is a lawyer, not a law enforcement veteran. No more politicians for the FBI.
This is for the temporary acting head. Because it is a Senate confirmed position, the laws about who can be made acting are pretty strict.
McCabe is one of five people on the list. I doubt he will get the interim gig.
Job #1: Fire McCabe. Or re-assign him to Point Barrow Alaska.
Trump is just naming an interim director. This does not go through the appointments process. No recess appointment, just an interim director.
“Not McCabe, as had been previously reported.”
Well that’s a relief, I just wished he wasn’t the acting. Even if he was on the list I didn’t expect him to get the job of course but while he is the Acting Director he could be a problem. Looking at the list it looks like they are going the safe non-controversial route. I think would have liked Sheriff Clark boom!
what ? no women ? MISOGYNISTS ! MISOGYNISTS !
That has nothing to do with this. The search is for the acting head of the FBI in the interim while they search for and seek confirmation of a new permanent director.
The interesting thing is that it is not McCabe, which suggest that he is on a little list of society offenders as well.
McCabe is formally on the list, along with at least four others.
Krauthammer, brilliant as usual, suggested:
CONDI
good gosh
The trap for McCabe has already been set:
Don’t ask a question unless you know an answe. Grass key already knows the answers. Just getting everything on record.
How about “don’t be stuck on stupid” Gen Honore?
He’s an outsider, a leader, and has actually drained a swamp at NOLA.
I nominate Sheriff Clark.
