House GOP leaders are expressing confidence that the Republican-sponsored American Health Care Act (AHCA) to repeal and replace Obamacare will pass Thursday afternoon, though it will face an uncertain path in the Senate.

"This will pass," House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-California, told reporters as he left a closed-door meeting with the House Republican Conference. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-Louisiana, also seemed confident that the bill would pass.

And now to the Senate where this has no hope in Hell of passing once the CBO score comes out next week.

“I think those 2 Dem votes was a trick trying to fool a RINO into thinking he could vote ‘no’.”

Maybe, but if the two Dem “Yes” votes were Maxine Waters and Sheila Jackson Lee, even Paul Ryan could probably figure out that they were fake.

Anyone know: Has the mandate been repealed?

I’ve never seen this bill.

I doubt the House members that just voted could answer that.

Look at all the #NeverTrump bitterness on display here.

Shameful.

Many here were cheering the House Freedom Caucus when they were seeking concessions on this bill.

Now that it has passed—with the critical help of the House Freedom Caucus—it's time to move the process forward.

This is a major victory for President Trump—a testimony to his tenacity and hard work—and consequently, the #NeverTrump crowd is bitterly stewing in its own juices. Only yesterday, many of them were gloating that this bill wouldn't pass.

That's why I trust President Trump's judgement—more than anyone else in government—to protect the interests of the American People. It's clear that the #NeverTrump crowd just wants to moan and groan, much like the Democrats...

Yes, from the video, the initial reaction on the Republican side when the bill passed was applause. Reaction seconds later on the Democratic side was to sing, wave hands, and point fingers at the Republicans.

Correct. Big win for Trump. He needed it.

Sorry, a recent poll.

Others a few months ago say different.

Its modified... now only non-minorities are subject to the mandate. Free healthcare (and annual cash payments for misc expenses of $15K) will be sent to minorities (double for non-citizen "migrants").

“That was a bill to NOT exempt the Congress from the Healthcare bill.”

I appreciate the correction.

I tuned in during the vote and the title read “Vote to Exempt House Members from Healthcare Bill.” One would think “AYE” is a vote in favor of the proposition as displayed by C-SPAN.

That’s what I get for walking in in the middle of the show.

If the Senate screws this up then its another embarrassment for Trump. Don't underestimate the ability of GOP RINO's in the Senate to screw things up... on purpose.

In general I have to agree with your assessment. Plus, I have to give him much credit for the arm-twisting that was needed. I just hope he has as much success with his tax reform proposal. That is what will give the economy the necessary impetus needed to bring back prosperity in this country.

CBO scores are meaningless. They have been demonstrated to be political tools rather than objective.

This will be about the donor class of DC. Who owns which senators. Do they feel in any danger of being primaried?

The senate and DC in general has utter contempt for anyone outside of DC, NYC, or LA. DC for the parties, NYC for the case, and LA for the “talent” for the mentioned parties.
